The 4-section TR42M Carbon Fiber Monopod with Arca-Type Clamp from ProMediaGear is a lightweight 1.5 lb support that is constructed using a 10x carbon fiber cross-weaving pattern for durability and strength. Telephoto lenses and cameras that weigh up to 70 lb mount to the top of the monopod via its Arca-type-compatible clamp. Each twist lock is knurled for a secure grip and unlock to extend the monopod to its maximum height of 60.75". To collapse for storage or to shoot at its minimum height, the monopod closes to a length of 19.5". The rubber foot prevents the monopod from sliding on smooth surfaces and removes to reveal a stainless steel spike for further stabilization on rocks, ice, or snow.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this tripod have a handle?

A: K&F Concept D225C2 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Arca-Type Ball Head and Monopod BH #KF09094V1 doesn't have a handle.

Q: 2. If the ball head is detached, what are the specs for mounting an alternate head? Standard 3/8" screw? Something else?

A: The K&F Concept D225C2 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Arca-Type Ball Head and Monopod head is attached to the tripod by a standard 3/8" mounting screw.

Q: 3. Does this tripod supports a Nikon D850 with a 70-200mm lens?

A: The K&F Concept D225C2 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Arca-Type Ball Head and Monopod will hold a Nikon D850 with a 70-200 lens, but if you want it to be the most rock solid without any movement at all I recommend purchasing a stronger and heavier tripod.

Q: 4. Can the ball head be detached from this tripod?

A: Yes, the ball head included with the K&F Concept D225C2 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Arca-Type Ball Head and Monopod is detachable.

Q: 5. Would this be a good choice for mounting on Monopod with 10# Camera/Lens combo?

A: The ProMediaGear Arca-Type Clamp for Straps, Holsters, and L-Brackets with Built-In Arca Dovetail does hold 10 lbs easily. It has a smaller 1/4" screw opening in the bottom, so you would need a monopod that has that screw. Most monopods have a 1/4" screw though.

Q: 6. Does this come with a quick release mount or would I need to order that separately?

A: The K&F Concept D225C2 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Arca-Type Ball Head and Monopod does come with a quick release plate.

Q: 7. Can I insert the ProMediaGear PLX3T Vertical L-bracket into the ProMediaGear CB60v3 Clamp?

A: Yes the ProMediaGear Arca-Type Clamp for Straps, Holsters, and L-Brackets with Built-In Arca Dovetail can be used with the ProMediaGear PLX3T.

Q: 8. Is the foot replaceable with other 3/8 foot accessories?

A: As the ProMediaGear TR42ML Carbon Fiber Monopod with Arca-Type Clamp has a 3/8"-16 mount on the bottom of the monopod's foot, yes, it should be compatible for use with other 3/8"-16 foot accessories.

Q: 9. Will this monopod accept a quick release clamp? Does the description simply mean it does not include such a device?

A: In addition to the previous answers, yes, you may attach a separate quick release clamp onto the monopod if desired, like the ProMediaGear C60 (https://bhpho.to/2H5DWU1) or the RRS BS-AS-II (https://bhpho.to/3nQ6l0Z), or any quick release system that attaches via 3/8"-16 or 1/4"-20. CAUTION: Please be careful when mounting heavier camera/lenses on the QR system this way as the system could loosen relatively easy, as opposed to the solutions presented by the previous 2 answers.

Q: 10. What are the tube diameters on the 75.4" monopod?

A: The diameters of the ProMediaGear TRM34ML Carbon Fiber Monopod with Standard Mount are 34mm-30mm-26mm.

I purchased this to replace my aging aluminum monopod. The weight savings is amazing. It is extremely stable and the leg twist locks are both easy to grip and they lock very solidly with just a 1/4 twist.
This easily supports my Nikon Z9 with a 300mm f/2.8 lens attached.
I also use the Pro Media Gear Tomahawk 2 Gimbal head on this.
They work incredibly together.
Much lighter than my older set up, makes it much more likely that I will bring it with me.

I love this mono pod. It's comfortable, light, and strong. I put my Wimberley WH 100 gimbal on the mono pod to secure my Sony 400 F2.8 for wildlife photography. It's perfect. Excellent construction. Beautifully made.

With this, along with the HM1 Tilt Head, I leave my tripod behind, more and more.

I had to convince myself to spend nearly $400 on this monopod. I have two old Gitzos that I've had for almost 30 years that are still working, but they're heavy and cold in the winter. I was going to buy a foreign brand monopod to save money, but I'm glad I got this. The quality is absolutely superb. Is it worth the money? That depends on you and your budget but I like supporting American companies if I can. The other factor was that this is an extra tall monopod that I can use with my monopod head (superb Wimberley MonoGimbal) to photograph birds directly overhead, and most companies don't make one this tall. PMG makes great kit and I can recommend it.

I'm 6'4.

I prefer extra-long monopods because in normal use the segments need not be extended fully. Leaving a generous overlap when extending the segments makes the whole quite strong and stable, a must when mounting super-telephoto lenses.

On the rare occasion I'd want the full 80 or so inches, shooting on steep terrain for example, then I can take advantage of that too.

Very impressed with the feel of this product.

After quite a bit of research and comparison, I bought the ProMediaGear TR42ML for several reasons:
1) It extends to 81, so even facing downhill, it is always long enough. I never have to stoop (I am 5' 9).
2) The tubes are 42, 38, 34, and 30mm in diameter, made of 10-layer carbon-fiber. The monopod is quite rigid.
3) In case I want to mount my telephoto lens directly to the monopod, I can do so with a degree of front-to-back adjustment via the Arca plate/clamp for balance purposes. If you rotate your camera's Arca plate 90 degrees, you can do the same thing to balance a camera/lens combination, instead of it being front-heavy. You cannot do either with a monopod that simply has a threaded attachment at the top, unless you add in an Arca clamp.
4) The monopod comes with a spike that is securely stored in the rubber foot.
5) The materials, machining, and construction are all excellent.
I use mine plus a Wimberley Monogimbal with a Fujifilm GFX 100S, Fuji GF 250mm F4, and Fuji GF 1.4x TC. The latter three items weigh almost exactly 6 pounds. Though the monopod and gimbal adds an additional 2.5#, it makes for a much easier shooting experience when shooting for several hours at a time.

Real Pro piece of kit, heavy duty, machined aluminum twist leg locks, head drilled and tapped for holders like safari clamps, top arca clamp compatible with all RRS base plates so easy switch between a gimbal head for long lenses or a simple monopod tilter, and bottom ball threaded for a Spike or etc., small spike included.

Having read all the reviews I opted to purchase this even with it being out of stock. It ended up taking about 5 weeks from order to arrive. I've had other high end tripods from other manufacturers and I can clearly state that this is a cut above the rest. Absolutely rock solid and engineered for easy maintenance.

I had originally ordered an aluminum Manfrotto, thinking it would be sufficient for holding my gear. While generally well made, the leg clamps would not adjust enough to keep the leg sections from collapsing slowly. I splurged on the TRM34ML, and am completely happy with it. Legs lock positively, and the build quality is flawless. This is another you get what you pay for purchase if you are wanting a dependable lightweight monopod.
