Cannot praise this lens enough! It creates such a nice and beautiful cinematic look for my films! I HIGHLY recommend his lens for anybody who is looking to make there films one step better. Great investment and the AF is fantastic, just as good as the Sony lenses.

After tried bunch of lenses, i think i found my portrait lens. Of course i recomend Sony Zeiss lenses but if you have a tight budget and looking for wide aperture prime lens you can get it without question. I love close and low light shoot, autofocus is slower than Sony 50mm 1.4 but i don't use af much. Sharpness is quite good, contrast is little bit low. Bokeh are amazing. Focus ring is smooth and sensitive, this is give you a chance of make focus with small movements. Focus motor is noisy (if you will use af in video and don't have external mic think about it.)

I was really surprised how good this lens is for the price. This is Rokinons first autofocusing lens and it came out at the same time as Sonys 50mm 1.4 but at less than half the cost. I got both of them to see how they compare and which one is more worth it. Being Rokinons first autofocusing lens I was suspecting slow and inaccurate autofocusing but that wasnt the case. Comparing the two lenses the Rokinon actually focused faster but with a few more missed shots. The bokeh looks really good and the lens is quite sharp wide open but the Sony does beat it out. I have a full comparison with sample photos and video on Youtube that you can check out, just search for 50mm 1.4 Rokinon Sony Max Yuryev This lens is a focus by wire (electronic focusing) lens just like the majority of Sonys E lenses so you dont have that same famous long and smooth manual focus ring that the manual focus Rokinons have, but the ring is fairly easy and consistent to use for a FBW system and has a slower throw than Sonys 50mm 1.4. Overall I think this is a fantastic lens and definitely worth it from a price to performance standpoint. Your images will look nice and sharp with a good shallow depth of field if you want it. Rokinons been stepping up their game the last few years and Im really excited to see what Rokinon puts out next!

This lens was a great addition. Very well constructed, and has some weight to it. Packaged really nicely and overall satisfied with my purchase.

Cons:
The only con I have is that it really is noisey for video recording which doesn't really affect me with what I record on it. Just beware of that though if your looking to mainly record video I don't think this is the one for you.

Superb lens, super sharp all the way to f1.4, blow me away the sharpness of this lens, scares me I taught that it was going to be ok lens but waoo. Is very fast autofocus and accurate, use it at weddings in super low light situations no broblems at all focusing. now I will going to buy the rokinon 14mm f2.8...

Just got this lens a couple of days ago and I must say, I am impressed. The autofocus is not bad at all. In fact, it's on par with my native Sony lenses. The image quality is awesome. But yes, as others have stated, it is noisy. I shoot mainly video but whichever camera I mount this on will not be recording sound anyway.

I have a Sony a7 and i'm totally satisfied with this lens, i think the price is incredible and i think that it will increase in few months because it's simply amazing, the quality it's great. The AF Works very good, better than I expected. The bad thing it's the minimun focus distance about 0.45m. So if you want great quality without pay for a CZ Lens and without use mount adapter this is a very good option.

Just got it. It did come in 1 1/2 days even though the big snowstorm is raging. I have tried it briefly. A photo is enclosed, taken handheld with a greenish desklamp for lighting. I've noticed on looking at it 100% that there is some fringing, but I'm sure with LR or PS that will go away. Other than that, I have no problems. I might use this for video in which case it's loud on the AF. But for landscape (smaller objects) and portraits, this lens is really beautiful. Snowflakes and bokeh can create wonderful winter scenes. I have other Rokinons, all MF. They are great. This one adds the AF and is even greater! Nice, simple design and all electronic. For the price, you cannot beat it. Get it on sale!

This lens is amazing for photography but there are little issues that videographers might want to ovoid this lens. The lens has amazing image quality, but the auto focus is some what 80% accurate. It struggles when objects get a little to close which means that lens has to refocus which it takes some tries, but at the end it locks to whatever you want to focus on. The lens makes some noise when Focusing but it’s not that bad compare to the cheap 50 mm f1.8 lens that Sony sells. I’m not really into video a lot but I wanted to test out the auto focus on this camera and I gotta be honest with you, it’s not really that good because it struggles a little but it’s decent and don’t get me started with manual focus because it makes a lot of noise when trying to focus on something. But at the end of the day this is Rokinas first auto focus lens which is not bad and I am actually very satisfied with my purchase because this lens is worth the money! So if your into photography I suggest you pick up this lens as your first lens for you Alpha camera because you won’t regret it. * The bokeh is butter*
