The third-generation ATSC-SDI 4i HDTV Tuner from Contemporary Research features H.264 tuning up to 1080p60, HDMI output scaling up to 1080p, and IPTV streaming via an Ethernet port. The commercial-grade ATSC-SDI 4i supports analog and digital MPEG-2/H.264 channels in ATSC, clear QAM, and NTSC formats.

In addition to wireless and wired IR commands, control choices include two-way RS-232, IP Telnet, and UDP options. A menu-driven display offers a simple setup, and an onboard web page enables configuration, control, and monitoring for remote locations. To switch between antenna and cable feeds, pair the ATSC-SDI 4i tuner with a separately available RF-AB switch.

The ATSC-SDI 4i HDTV Tuner is fully compatible with the control commands and operation of prior models, and it shares the same 1 RU rack height with two units fitting in one rack space.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can i configure to view only four inputs on one screen? Can change back to six or four on the fly using USB/PC ?

A: Yes

Q: 2. The ATSC 3.0 Wiki says this: support for newer technologies, including HEVC for video channels of up to 2160p 4K resolution at 120 frames per second, wide color gamut, high dynamic range, Dolby AC-4 and MPEG-H 3D Audio, datacasting capabilities, and more robust mobile television support. It sounds like this tuner will not support real 2160p. Is this true?

A: This product offers output scaling up to 4K through HDMI. However it is only inputting a signal up to 1080p HD. It does not input a 4K signal, it only scales the signal up to 4K for output.

Q: 3. 1. What happens when signal lost or disconnect one of the SDI input - does it show black on missing input or show some test patterns or solid color?2. Can we disable audio meters / file names / input names to have clean multi-view feed to monitor?

A: Got Answer from Chris.H (Thank you) B&H and Decimator The DMON-6S can be set up to either generate its own reference (free run) or use one of the inputs as a reference. If its set up to use free run or an input other than the one thats pulled then it will continue to show an output with just that window showing its background colour. The background colour can be selected in the USB Control Panel software, available free of charge for Windows and Mac. For the application your customer has described I would recommend setting it up so that Reference is set to Free Run nd background colour is set to black. You can remove all in picture overlays (audio meters, graticules, UMDs and status displays) from the multi-view output to show just the input sources.

Q: 4. Does this Unit allow you to scale or convert the SDI input for each out put and if so can it be done independently on each channel

A: it does not scale or convert resolutions. whatever is input is what will be displayed

Q: 5. is it possible to have 5 inputs in the MW. one must be centered in the middle of MW?

A: Yes

Q: 6. What devices are available to use with the GPI input on the back? Can I switch between feeds using external hardware instead of USB? How well does this work?

A: No pre built devices that I am aware of that utilize the gpi. However I built a small control box using non latching buttons tied into the GPI and it works great.

Q: 7. I want to connect 4 PTZ cameras to this for the camera operator to view then loop each independent camera feed to a switcher. Can this do that?

A: Yes you can. Each input has an active loop output.

Q: 8. Is it glitch-free switching between inputs? What is latency beetween in and out? Thanks!

A: Switching is fast and glitch free.

Q: 9. Does this come with the parts to rack mount?

A: Yes, in the box is the Contemporary Research Single Rack Kit.

Q: 10. This camera has an ethernet plug. Can this camera be powered with power over ethernet camera? (PoE)?

A: The Thor 1080p 3G/HD-SDI/HDMI/IP Streaming Box Camera with 20x Optical Zoom does not support POE power.
