The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" UV Haze 1 Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 6.6 x 6.6" / 167.6 x 167.6mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I recently purchased this filter. How long does the muti coating last ?In other words, does the filter deteriorate over time?

A: Multicoating on a good filter will last as long as the filter, if it isn't scratched or damaged by careless cleaning with low-quality products.

Q: 2. Does the 40.5 MM B+W UV haze still come in a cloth bag? Or, is the filter now enclosed in a leatherette bag?

A: The B+W 40.5mm UV-Haze #010 MRC Basic Filter comes in a leatherette bag.

Q: 3. What is the difference between the b + w basic uv haze filter and the master uv haze filter?

A: The UV-Haze #010 MRC MASTER Filter would have a better coating against dirt and water versus the UV-Haze #010 BASIC Filter.

Q: 4. What is the difference between the MRC & MRC Nano coatings?

A: "Multi Resistant Coating" (MRC) and "Nano" coating are now combined on B+W filters: the coating resists dust and moisture, and offers significant resistance to mechanical scratches on the surface of the lens. Cleaning filters with the hard, water-repellant MRC Nano system of coatings is considerably easier than cleaning filters without this coating.

Q: 5. Descriptions says "uniform light transmission level of 65.5%." Guessing that's a (if 6 was 9) typo?

A: It is a typo. B+W 62mm UV-Haze #010 MRC Basic Filter is 99.5% Light Transmission. I will email the B&H web department to fix it, thank you for letting us know.

Q: 6. Any major difference between this one and XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter?

A: Yes, MRC means its multicoated and gives you more resistance against flare, ghosting, and chromatic aberrations just like a multi coated lens would. The nano coating assists in a beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

Q: 7. Does this B+W UV Filter have a brass or aluminum ring?

A: The B+W 67mm UV-Haze #010 MRC Basic Filter has a brass ring.

Q: 8. Is there a front and a back to the filters? Is there a specific way/ side that it needs to go on?

A: For B+W 82mm UV-Haze #010 MRC Basic Filter the front is the section that has the writing 010 UV-Haze MRC. That needs to face towards the subject, the back of the filter is what is screwed onto the lens.

Q: 9. Does the 67 mm filter have a front thread for stacking?

A: Yes, the B+W 67mm UV-Haze #010 MRC Basic Filter has 67mm front threads.

Q: 10. Is the light transmission on this the same as the Basic version? (99.5%)

A: Yes. The B+W UV-Haze #010 MRC MASTER Filter also has 99.95% light transmission like the B+W Basic filter has.

An inexpensive way to protect an expensive lens. Just put it on and forget it.

I bought this to protect the prime lens on my Nikon 18-105 VR kit lens that came with my Nikon D90. It does this extremely well and reduces some of the bluish haze that we get here in the high plains of Oregon and the Cascade Mountains.

I purchased the UV filter for use on my new Panasonic DMC FZ40 camera for both haze filtering and physical protection of the lens glass. It is a great filter.

Lense insurance that helps with haze in outdoor photography. Just keep it on when outside. Already hit by metal debris, fortunately on the ring. It's much cheaper Than a new lens.
