If you are a professional musician or voice-over artist who needs a USB microphone that truly rivals the sound of prized vintage microphones, the Edge Go from Antelope is worthy of your consideration. Not an average USB mic, the Edge Go faithfully emulates the sound and performance of classic microphones such as the 67, the 47 FET, the C12, and more. But that’s not all: with included software, you can get the sound of a classic preamp, compressor, EQ, and more, all without expensive recording gear.

Plug the mic into your computer's USB input, plug a pair of headphones into the capsule's underside, and you're ready to go. Set up your custom mic chain from the Edge Go software, which gives you classic preamp emulations alongside compressors, equalizers, and other studio tools (a gate, an expander, a tape machine emulation, reverb, and more). Monitor right through the microphone and record the tone of a classic mic right into your DAW, or stream it online to audio and video platforms. A pop shield, desktop stand, and hard case are included.

The microphone is fashioned with two 34mm capsules that give you all the polar patterns of any emulated microphone. This not only includes cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 polar patterns, but anything in between, where applicable. Many classic tube mics allow you to variably change between cardioid and omnidirectional polar patterns, creating your own custom pickup in the process; the Edge Go preserves this aspect of microphone performance.

Recording audio at up to 192 kHz/24-bit, the mic offers the highest quality conversion available to most recording studios. The built-in electronics even sound great on their own, though of course you are encouraged to play with all the emulations whenever possible.

Though primarily tailored to vocalists, the Edge Go also works with electric and acoustic guitars or any instrument that would suit the emulations provided.

You'll have your pic of the following mics:

  • Berlin 47 FT
  • Berlin 49T
  • Berlin 57
  • Berlin 87
  • Berlin 67
  • Berlin M103
  • Vienna 12
  • Vienna 414
  • Tokyo 800T
  • Oxford 4038
  • Sacramento 121R

You'll get more than microphones with the Edge Go. Enjoy preamps from BAE and Gyraf, compressors from Gates and Altec, or EQs from a variety of manufacturers.

Not sure where to start? Edge Go software gives you one-click access to presets like "Telephone Effect," "Massive Reverb Space," "Fan Noise Reduction," and more, so you can nail that sound in your head and start recording fast. Get creative and build the effects chain of your dreams, then save it as a preset, so inspiration is only a click away.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the Zen go has talk back function?

A: No, the Zen Go does not have a talkback feature like you would have in a recording studio to communicate between the control room and the live studio. It does have two independently adjustable headphone outputs as well as mirrored monitor outputs that allow you to listen to the audio while recording.

Q: 2. Is The Zen Go compatible with iOS devices?

A: No, the Zen Go Synergy Core is not compatible with iOS devices. It is designed for use with Mac and Windows computers. I upgraded to the Zen Go and could hear the difference immediately. I listened to several mixes which I completed previously as well as commercial releases that I'm very familiar with and the results showed a noticeable improvement from both MOTU and Focustite. This is now my primary interface for mixing in Protools, Logic Pro and Reaper

I love this thing! Set-up was fairly easy, it sounds great and the included inboard processing and effects are really good. I am just getting into some minor viice over production and hopefully some music. I was really happy to get the free plugin bundle which is being offered until September 2021! Not to mention the zero or nearly zero latency really helps with recording and the easy set up with Windows for the loopback function has helped me step up my video streaming capabilities. Happy Customer here.

I was looking for a high end bus powered interface that would be usable with both Mac and PC. My previous interface did not work great with windows machine because of the thunderbolt connection. When I saw the Antelope was releasing a budget-friendly version of their Zen live, I had to give it a try. The build quality is amazing but thee sound is even better, I'm very happy with my decision. Antelope all the way.
