The 150 x 150mm Blackstone IRND 0.9 Filter from Wine Country Camera is an ND filter with an 8x filter factor that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing exposure time or increasing aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks, one layer of Blackstone ND Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Blackstone ND Coating is also designed to help minimize any effect on a digital camera's resolution when using this filter.

This Wine Country Camera 150 x 150mm Blackstone IRND 0.9 Filter is constructed from Schott Ultra-White Glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and measures 2mm thick.

The Wine Country Camera 150 x 150mm Blackstone IRND 0.9 Filter is pre-installed within a Wine Country Camera 150 x 150mm Filter Vault, which is designed to encase the edges of a 150 x 150mm, 2mm thick filter for use within a separately available Wine Country Camera 150mm Filter Holder. By encasing the sides of an installed filter, this filter vault helps to eliminate stray light, which could have unwanted effects on exposure. Additionally, the Wine Country Camera 150 x 150mm Filter Vault reinforces an installed filter's rigidity while preventing its sides from having to come into direct contact with a filter holder's slots. This protects those side surfaces and promotes sharp results by ensuring that the filter remains flat.

Installation of a compatible filter is accomplished by first turning the Wine Country Camera 150 x 150mm Filter Vault's brass Wine Coin lock into the open position. Located along the front of the filter vault's inner and outer top edges, the Wine Coin is a flat disk cam lock that features a straight edge on one side and a rounded edge on the other. When the lock's straight edge is aligned with the filter vault's inner edge, a 150 x 150mm, 2mm thick filter can be set within the front of the filter vault. The Wine Coin can then be turned so that its rounded edge obstructs the installed filter, securing it within the filter vault.

A separately available Wine Country Camera 150mm Filter Holder includes a dedicated inner slot for this 150 x 150mm filter vault. That slot allows a Wine Country Camera 150 x 150mm Filter Vault to be instantly switched with an identical filter vault that may contain a different filter needed for other subjects or changing lighting conditions. If used with the Wine Country Camera 150mm Filter Holder's outer slot that can accommodate a Wine Country Camera filter vault up to 150 x 170mm in size, an integrated safety-catch system prevents this 150 x 150mm filter vault from accidentally sliding out of the filter holder.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many 4X5.6 filter can it hold?

A: As per the manufacturer, the S6 150mm Filter Holder Pouch is designed to fit up to (2) 150 x 150mm filters or 150 x 170mm filters with a thickness of 2mm. For your needs, you may want to consider the Ruggard 10-Pocket Filter Pouch for 4 x 6" Filters, BH # RUFP4610. https://bhpho.to/3jH1vlU

Q: 2. Is it me or is the textprinted on the wrong (back) side of the filter? Circular pols only work one direction (not an issue when its in a threaded mount but this is reversible) and when I use this one in the correct way the writing on the glass faces the back. Anyone else notice this?

A: The word text u mean the numbers written on the filter. Stil i didnt notice it but its working perfectly for me. I dont think its printing mistake

Q: 3. Will this filter holder hold 4mm thick 150mmx150mm like Tiffen Yellow #8?

A: Unfortunately, it will only accept 2mm filters. You will likely need a matte box to hold 4mm filters.

Q: 4. Could you describe how this polarizer is better than cheaper NiSi USA S5 Circular Polarizer for S5 150mm Holder?

A: On NiSi's website, they claim the NiSi S6 Pro CPL Enhanced (Landscape NC) provides 25% more tonal saturation than the regular S6 Pro CPL. While NiSi has not made comparisons between their S6 Pro and S5 Pro filters, the S5 filter will only work with S5 holders and the S6 will only work with S6 holders. They are not interchangeable. https://bit.ly/2MruGMK

Q: 5. Hello,I am not sure about this square filter - is it necessary filter to be rotated as we use round circular polarizer filters?Or this filter stays still in horizontal position only?Thank you.Best regards,Rado

A: Yes, a square circular polarizing filter will still need to be rotated just like a round one. To rotate this filter, you will need a specialized matte box that has a rotating filter stage. The 6 x 6 Universal Matte Box Package from Cavision: http://bhpho.to/JYrd2j

Q: 6. Since this is a circular polarizer, does that mean the amount of polarization will be affected by the amount you rotate it?

A: Yes as you rotate it inside the filter holder purchased separately you set the amount of polarization. But you would rotate a linear polarizer the same way to set the polarization.

Q: 7. can I insert a nisi filter into it?

A: Yes you can, as long as its 100x150mm and 2mm thick.

Q: 8. Will it fit the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8? If not, what will fit this lens?

A: The NiSi 150mm Q Filter Holder for Rokinon/Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens, BH # NIPFH150SA14 would be the correct model. https://bhpho.to/3vi5bOs

Q: 9. What are the difference among the three? there is no spec listed on this page.

A: According to Nisi, the NiSi S6 Pro CPL for S6 150mm Holder (Natural) is intended to produce pure, natural colors without any warming cast. The NiSi S6 Pro CPL for S6 150mm Holder version is on the warmer side while the NiSi S6 Pro CPL for S6 150mm Holder (Landscape NC) will enhance blues and greens for more vibrancy.

Q: 10. What does it means that this filter " designed for lenses with focal lengths of 70mm or less. " Is ther any harm in using it with long telephoto lenses? Will it harm the image quality?

A: Anything above 70mm we don't recommend using the Circular Polarizer because you may not be able to achieve focus.
