The 52mm Blackstone Infrared Neutral Density 0.9 Filter from Wine Country Camera is an ND filter with an 8x filter factor that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing aperture or slowing exposure time, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks, one layer of Blackstone ND Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Blackstone ND Coating is also designed to help minimize any effect on a digital camera's resolution when using this filter.

This Wine Country Camera {pnsize}mm Blackstone Infrared Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is constructed from Schott Ultra White Glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It features an aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight.

Q: 1. Can you screw a 58mm filter lens into/over the Nikon 52mm clear NC glass filter, or, must it be removed first? I have two other filters (UV and Circular Polarizing Filters) that have a 52mm screw in (for the 18X55mm lens) that step up to 58mm for adding other filters, etc.

A: The Nikon 52mm Clear NC Glass Filter has 52mm front threads. To attach a 58mm filter to that you will need step up ring, 52-58mm like this one,Sensei 52-58mm Step-Up RingB&H # SESUR5258 Mfr # SUR-5258a href= http://bhpho.to/1wGLxul target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1wGLxul/a

Q: 2. I got a D500 camera. What size NC filter do I need?

Q: 3. Will this 52mm Clear NC Glass Filter by Nikon work/fit on my AF-s NIKKOR 17-55mm f2.8? Also, will it work/fit on NIKKOR 70-200mm f2.8VRII? What clear filter would you recommend for each of this len?Thank you.

A: No, that will not fit those lenses. Both lenses use a 77mm filter size not 52.This would be my first recommendation.B+W 77mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 FilterB&H # BWCXSP77 Mfr # 66-1066111http://bhpho.to/1rDbpoMThen you have this one,Hoya 77mm HD2 Protector FilterB&H # HOPH277 Mfr # XHD2-77PROTEChttp://bhpho.to/1oc4kVM

Q: 8. Is this filter a Nikon product or generic? I am interested in the 52mm Clear NC Glass Filter by Nikon and the 58mm Clear NC Glass Filter by Nikon.Thamks,Rich

A: The filter on this link is an offer for a Nikon original filter, not a generic. Below is a link to the same filter in 58mm size for you to also regard:http://bhpho.to/1fSDZhd

Q: 9. How does this Clear NC glass compare to a U.V. filter?

A: A clear filter and a UV filter essentially are the same, however a UV filter will block some UV transmissions from hitting the sensor of the camera. However, the primary use for both filters is to protect the lens.
