The 62mm Blackstone Infrared Neutral Density 0.9 Filter from Wine Country Camera is an ND filter with an 8x filter factor that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing aperture or slowing exposure time, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks, one layer of Blackstone ND Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Blackstone ND Coating is also designed to help minimize any effect on a digital camera's resolution when using this filter.

This Wine Country Camera {pnsize}mm Blackstone Infrared Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is constructed from Schott Ultra White Glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It features an aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Has anyone used this with a Sony 24-105? If so do you get vignetting when stacking the ND and CPL filters? I read on Kase website https://kasefilters.com/faq that it will have vignetting on this lens regardless of filter size. Is that true?

A: Yes when using Kase 95mm Wolverine Magnetic Professional Neutral Density Filter Kit II you need to add an adapter ring to then add the magnetic filters and it becomes very thick if you are stacking multiple filters on top of another and then on top of the adapter ring, that cases vignetting when it is in wide angle position of 24mm.

Q: 2. Is the glass for the CPL supposed to rattle inside the circular frame ? Because mine does..

A: While the filter may not be designed to rattle, circular polarizer filters are made of moving parts. It may be the retaining spring holding the glass in the filter may be loose, or another moving part may cause some rattle. That being said, if you are not happy with your filter or you feel your filter may be defective, do note you have 30 days from the date of purchase to return your filter for an exchange or refund.

Q: 3. how many stops of light should we compensate for with this filter?

A: We should compensate about 5-6 stops of light with the Hoya 62mm R72 Infrared Filter.

Q: 4. Will these filters cause vignetting on a Nikkor Z 82 mm 14-30 f/4 lens?

A: Yes, Nikon NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S Lens has an 82mm filter thread. Kase 82mm Wolverine Magnetic Professional Neutral Density Filter Kit II comes with an 82mm Kase magnetic lens adapter ring. You just need to screw in the ring in front of your lens.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with Pentax K70?

A: The Hoya 62mm R72 Infrared Filter is compatible with the K70. As for results it will vary depending on settings and the scene/shot.

Q: 6. Using a Zeiss Milvus 15mm: the lens has a 95mm filter size and 110* angle of view. Will the 95mm filter kit vignette or should I consider the next size up with a step-up ring?

A: There is always some vignetting when using ultra wide lenses with front ND filters. Whether or not the amount is acceptable to you will depend on your personal preference. However, given the distance between the front element of that specific lens and the edge of the front of the lens where the filter threads are, I would not expect such vignetting to be a result of the rim of the filter. Rather, it would be due to the angle of the entry of light and the fact that it has to go through the filter somewhat sideways. Again, this is normal with ultra wide angle lenses.

Q: 7. If I buy the 82mm Kase kit and want to use them on my 77mm lenses, does case make an adapter?

A: Yes, click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2Z2M6Tt

Q: 8. I can’t tell from the product photos, does this product have each ring colour coded depending upon the ND stops?

A: No, the rings on the Kase 82mm Wolverine Magnetic Professional Neutral Density Filter Kit II are not color coated.

Q: 9. Do these have any play in the fit? The set I have has a lot of play side to side on the filter and even more on the cap

A: Yes. The play is to help prevent scratches from being caused.

Q: 10. How many stops of light should we compensate for with this lens?

A: The Hoya R72 Infrared Filter blocks about 5-6 stops.
