Styled in red, the SPL Director Mk2 is designed to be the centerpiece of your stereo system. It is the hub to which you can connect all your other components. Whether your need to play audio from a computer, a media player, or a phono preamp, the device can port the sound to headphone amplifiers, your passive speakers' amplifier, or active loudspeakers directly.

The Director Mk2's preamp can handle up to ten stereo input sources at a time. Six of these sources are analog connections on XLR terminations for balanced signal, and RCA inputs for unbalanced audio. Four inputs are in the digital domain, handling PCM audio at high sample rates over AES/EBU, coaxial S/PDIF, or optical connections. The Director Mk2 can support PCM audio up to 768 kHz, and DSD up to DSD4 (DSD256), thanks to its AK4490 Velvet Sound DAC chip from AKM.

Any power amp or loudspeaker can be connected over the XLR outputs, and any headphone amp can connect to the direct RCA outputs. As an added bonus to tape-machine afficionados, SPL has added an insert path which can be used as a tape monitor, or as a place in the circuit for your favorite EQ to tune the sound. A calibration switch on the rear lets you switch between consumer- and professional-level gear, so you don't ever accidentally distort the signal. Volume and source input selection can be remotely controlled using any existing infrared (IR) remote control, and the SPL Director Mk2 will learn your remote commands.

PCM Sample Rate up to 756 kHz    DSD Sample Rate up to DSD4    Frequency Range of 10 Hz to 200 kHz    USB, AES/EBU, Coaxial, Optical Inputs    Insert Path for Tape Machines    Balanced & Unbalanced Outputs    Remote-Controllable Source Selection

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this accept 240V or only 110V? Thanks

A: This will only do 110-125v.

Q: 2. Will this power a Sennheiser MKH 416 to connect to a rode wireless go II?

A: No, the Sennheiser MZA 900 P In-Line Preamplifier and Power Supply for EW Series Microphones will not work to connect a Sennheiser MKH 416 Shotgun Microphone to the Rode Wireless GO II Transmitter. To connect a microphone that requires 48V phantom power to a wireless transmitter, it would be suggested to use a portable phantom power supply such as the Denecke PS-1A Portable Single Channel 48V Phantom Power Supply (BH #DEPS1A) along with an appropriate adapter cable on the supply's XLR output connection: https://bhpho.to/3vYUjr9

Q: 3. Can 2 Frontliners be connected for stereo operation of the processing modules?

A: Unfortunately the Frontliner is designed as a single channel unit with no linking features for dual or stereo operation.

Q: 4. How much weight can this chair hold?

A: The manufacturer lists it at 300 pounds.

Q: 5. will this device provide +48v Phantom power to a condenser microphone ?

A: This device is a gain booster for ribbon/ dynamic mics, and while it uses 48v to provide gain, it does not pass phantom power. If you need just phantom power for a condenser mic, here's a phantom power supply option BH #MAM48.

Q: 6. Would this device work with the Countryman b3 Lav Mic mini 1/8 connector for Sennheiser? a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/294555-REG/Countryman_B3W4FF05BSR_B3_Omnidirectional_Lavalier_Microphone.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/294555-REG/Countryman_B3W4FF05BSR_B3_Omnidirectional_Lavalier_Microphone.html/a

A: This device should work fine with the Countryman B3 (for Sennheiser EW series transmitters).

Q: 7. how do I install my PP999 as it came with no instructions?

A: Connect your turntable to the PP999 inputs and connect the PP999 outputs to a line level input on your receiver or amplifier.

Q: 8. How is this product different than the Rode VXLR+ ? Voltage ? Impedance ?

A: The Rode VXLR Plus does not provide the same voltage that the Sennheiser provides. The Rode does 3-5v. For example: the Sennheiser ME 2 requires 7.5v. The Rode VXLR Plus would not supply that voltage.

Q: 9. Will I be able to use this to connect my vintage Technics turntable to my Yamaha AV receiver?

A: Yes it has the RIAA equalization built in. Otherwise it would not work with output of a turntable. It would sound like crap. I have on and have tested it and it sounds fine.

Q: 10. What is the weight capacity of the chair?

A: The manufacturer lists it at 300 pounds.

Our stadium PA system is under powered In regards to the amp. The Dynamite gives my dynamic mic the boost it needs for announcing. I HIGHLY recommend the Dynamite if you are looking for a signal boost.

I needed something to boost the output of my Shure SM-7B, but wanted to know if I could save 50 bucks by buying this instead of the Cloudlifter. Ordered from B&H (came the very next day even though I ordered it late in the afternoon!), and compared it with my friends Cloudlifter at his project studio. Bottom line-the DM-1 had more output, both were very quiet (technically, the DM-1 has a lower noise spec, but both were basically noiseless), and the Cloudlifter had a more hefty build quality (not that the DM-1 feels cheap or anything...the Cloudlifter just had more heft). One other advantage to the DM-1 was that I could simply plug it directly into my SM-7 so I didnt need another cable to hook it up. The DM-1 works great and saved me some money, so Im happy!

Awesome looking preamp first off. Adds the extra clean gain for my SM7B Focusrite can be at 12 o'clock and the volume is perfect. Going up to 3 or even 4 o'clock still is clean for me.

I have a BMPCC4K and always had very low input when pulling through the miniXLR adaptor into the camera. Tried boosting it with a Cloudlifter (which worked great) but was cumbersome to take on shoot. This in-line preamp does the same exact job (at $50 less) and it low profile enough to just keep in your bag and give you a clean +28dB of gain. Highly recommended.

Everything is as good as Fethead. Only the base noise level is a tiny little wee bit more noticeable than Fethead.
