This Lens Ring for Q/Q-P/Q2 from Leica is threaded metal ring that attaches to the front of the lens on the Leica Q (Typ 116), Q-P and Q2 cameras to protect the threads when the lens hood is not installed. This is a spare or replacement item for the originally included part that comes with the camera. This silver ring matches the color of the camera.

Q: 1. How well does this grip fit on the camera. Will it leave any marks on the original body? I want to make sure my original camera body doesn't have any indentations or scratch lines from using the grip over time.

A: There is no issue when using this grip on the camera, regarding marks or indentations, etc...

Q: 2. Will this Q2 grip fit the new Q3 since I don't need wireless charging?

A: At this time Leica does not list the Leica Q2 Handgrip as compatible with the Q3.

Q: 3. Does the hand grip attached to the Leica Q2 fit into a Billingham 72 bag?

A: According to our data, a Leica Q2 with the Q2 Handgrip, should measure approximately in camera height 3.5", which is what Billingham has listed as their internal bag depth (which should be equal or less than 3.5", when positioning the camera into the bag as they picture - camera on its side, which would take the camera's height measurement for the bag's depth). We do not carry the Billingham 72 camera bag, but according to our data, the Leica Q2 with Q2 handgrip, should just fit, though it may be a tight fit.

Q: 4. When removing the grip (to change battery, etc), does the strap require removing also?

A: The strap does not need to be removed.

Q: 5. Is there IBIS in this Leica Q2 Monochrom? There is absolutely no mention of it in the description or company literature.

A: The Leica Q2 Digital Camera and the Leica Q2 Monochrom Digital Camera both have optical image stabilization. This is optical stabilization in the lens, and is not what is typically referred to as IBIS (In-body image stabilization). IBIS refers to stabilization where the camera sensor itself moves slightly to counter any camera shake. Optical Stabilization works by shifting an element or multiple elements in the lens to compensate for camera shake. Both serve the same purpose. So while the camera does not have IBIS, is it still optically stabilized.

Q: 6. Is this the newer version that is deeper and fits more snugly on the lens hood? Or is it the original one that fell off & lost?

A: The Leica Lens Cover for Q, Q-P & Q2 (Matte Finish) is the original lens cap for Leica Q cameras.

Q: 7. Is the attachment screw a "captive" type screw?

A: The screw on the Leica Q2 Handgrip is non removable and always remains attached to the grip.

A: Leica Lens Cap for Q, Q-P, and Q2 Cameras (Black) is a metal push on cap with a internal velvet lining.

Q: 10. What is base ISO for the Q2 monochrome? Is it 50 (where the SN ratio seems lowest) or 200 (which I saw in a review somewhere)? Or other? I love shooting at lowest ISO without pushing for best image quality.

A: The native ISO on the Leica Q2 Monochrom Digital Camera is 100-100000. You can set the iso to 50-500000. but that is pushing it and it is best to stay with in the native iso for best results.

Some users like the thumb grip on the Q2, others like to use both the thumb and the hand grip. For me, I don't feel the thumb grip helps me with the handling of the camera but I do like the handgrip indispensable. Since I use the Q2 holster as well, the hand grip makes it easier to draw the camera out of the holster and to have a firm grip on the camera while using it. I made a hand strap out of paracord just to have extra safety to avoid dropping my Q2 while shooting. The Q2 with the hand grip fits perfectly in the Q2 holster, you just have to remove a piece of cushion in the holster that's attached with velcro. Highly recommended. 5

This gives me the grip I need to feel comfortable with the camera. I use this but not the thumb rest. The difference between this and the Q2 grip is the texture finish matches the Monochrom which is different than the Q2. The grip must be removed to access battery and SD card. I don't find that annoying - it's very easily done. 5

Usually the bottom plate will be the first sign of wear on a Leica or a lot of other camera's as well. The grip totally protects against wear marks on the bottom plate 5

Perfect fit and match to the Q2M. It's enough of an improvement to the ergonomics that I don't need a thumb grip. Best of all, it has a socket to which I can add an L-bracket for use on a tripod. 5

This is the best point and shoot I have ever owned. You get a leica lens that shoots both AUTOMATIC and MACRO. It's Full Frame. The controls give the operator maximum flexibility. It is Monochrom, so the resolution is absolutely superb. It is bigger than most point/shoots, but well worth it. And it also shoots 4k movies. 5

I recently purchased my first ever Leica camera (after forty-plus years of using Nikon and most recently Sony (a9, a7iii, a7Rii). I was concerned that my big mitts wouldn't be able to grip the smallish Q2 Monochrom....and although I could have gotten by without the handgrip.....the grip has made holding and manipulating the Q2 a lot easier. One hand operation when needed is easy. 5

This grip is not cheap, but it fits the Q2 Monochrom perfectly and is easy to quickly remove if you need to change the battery or insert a new card. Adds very little weight and provides much better handling. 5
