Q: 1. I notice a lot of details talking about a battery powered phantom source, but perhaps that this one is not the version that works with a battery? Does this have a battery phantom source, or is there another model that does? This is the only gooseneck that comes up under the battery powered search filter.

A: We use this mic with a wireless mic base unit that is part of System10 from Audio-Technica. The mic base is the phantom p/s. The combination provides good and clear service for our needs. We use it as a podium mic.

Q: 2. I purchased one and it will not work. There is no sound. Thinking I had a wire broken that is not the case. I plug another mic into it and it worked. So I am thinking there is something wrong with the mic,? Help.

A: It is difficult to determine what the issue may be with the mic. As a note this mic does require phantom power. If you believe the mic is defective or would like to speak with a Representative who may be able to assist you please call us at 800-606-6969.

Q: 3. Will an AT987 fit in this mount?

A: Yes, the Audio-Technica AT897 Shotgun Microphone will fit in the Audio-Technica AT8410A Shock Mount.

Q: 4. Is the RC2 able to hold the Audio-Technia PRO 8HEcW headset mic with the ATW-T1001 bodypack transmitter and ATW-R1100 receiver? (I can't find any pictures of the unit open so I don't know if they have slots for the items to be stored.)

A: There is ample space (additional slots) for accessories.

Q: 5. is this made of plastic or metal?

A: Metal, well made.

Q: 6. Does this "require" phantom power?

A: No, the Audio-Technica AT8202 does not require phantom power, although it can be used with phantom power without problems.

Q: 7. How do you 'thread' the microphone through the bands if it's too thin (e.g.. Rode NTG4+)?

A: I would try wrapping it in cloth, preferably cotton, where the bands contact the mike.

Q: 8. Will a Audio-Technica 8022 with a Rode dead cat wind screen over it fit in this mount?

A: Yes, the AT8415 shockmount can be used for an AT8022 microphone with a deadcat windscreen.

Q: 9. How is this powered may I ask please? Does this convert a mic terminated with a 4 pin to work with XLR? Will I need to phantom power afterwards?

A: The device requires 48V phantom power on the XLR side. I'm using it with a Zoom H4n, with phantom power enabled. I asked this same question to the audio-technical people, and they said that you need to send phantom power to the microphone through the AT8539 and that can come from either a recording device such as a mixer (the H4n, in my case) or an external phantom power supply, such as the AT8801. Hope this helps.

Q: 10. Will a AT4033a microphone fit on this shockmount?

A: No this shock mount was design to fit handheld and shotgun microphones, the AT4033a is a recording microphone and it will fit better on the shock mount in the link bellow. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1352188-REG/audio_technica_at8449a_shockmount.html

This AT8202 Attenuator works well and does wonders for your preamps. It allows you to push your preamps harder, thus getting a better tone.
