The BENG-5 Plate with 2 x 1/4"-20 and 2 x 3/8"-16 Captive Screws from Really Right Stuff is an ENG quick release plate designed to mount your ENG or cinema camera on a Really Right Stuff ENG fluid head. The plate attaches to your camera using the included 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 captive screws, and they can be adjusted using the center slot.

Integrated spring-loaded safety stop screws help prevent any accidental release from a clamp. There are 1mm scale markings along the sides that allow you to note the location of your camera for balancing or when remounting. The aluminum plate has a black anodized finish and rubber padding on top to prevent twisting or scratching on the bottom of your camera.

A: The Really Right Stuff L-Bracket Set for Leica SL2 and SL2-S is made up of 2 components. The Base Plate which goes on bottom of the camera. And the L-Component which is the vertical plate on the side of the camera. One has the option to purchase each individually, or get them together as a set. The L-Component is just the vertical side plate without the base plate. The L-Bracket Set has both the Base Plate and the L-Component.

Q: 7. Is this plate good for the RF 200-800mm?

A: The Canon RF 200-800 lens foot is about 5 inches long. The Really Right Stuff L85 Multiuse Fore-Aft Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw is 3.6 inches long so I would recommend a longer foot. I recommend this Wimberley P-35 Quick Release Lens Plate since it is 5 inches long. https://bhpho.to/2GjLcrb

Q: 8. Can you still plug in the Vello Shutterboss II when the RRS L bracket is on? I’ve read some conflicting stories on this one.

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff L-Plate for Canon EOS R allows you to access the cable connections for the remote, USB, and HDMI.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with a Leica S typ 007?

A: No, Really Right Stuff L-Plate for Leica SL2 and SL2-S is not the correct L bracket for Leica Medium format S TYP 007 camera. Unfortunately Really Right Stuff does not make a dedicated L bracket for your camera. You will need a universal Large L bracket but it will interfere with your battery chamber and cable ports.

Q: 10. Yes or No. Can a shutter release cable be attached when the L plate is in Portrait mode? In Portrait mode, the port side of the camera is facing down towards the ballhead plate. It seems like the plate would prevent access to the camera ports.

A: The only shutter release cable that would work in portrait mode with this L Bracket would be ones with a 90 degree plug. Any straight plugs will not fit. The alternative would be to use the app and make it wireless.

As always, the RRS L bracket works and fits the SL2 perfectly. It can be adjusted on the side to allow room for cables. An allen wrench sits underneath and held in place with a magnet. Need to be careful though to not knock it out of place. The bracket is high quality and will last a long time. No problem removing the battery from underneath. 5

Besides being of high quality\ like all RRS products, the solid build gives good security to the camera in the even of it being dropped. I recommend it to all Leica SL2 camera owners. 5

As with all RRS products I have used, it is very well made, beautifully finished, and it provides excellent support and ease of use when mounting my camera on a ball head. When attaching the camera to the tripod, the mount is solid and secure. The plate allows full access to the battery, memory cards, and connexions. There are no problems. The plate is also very light so it is an easy choice to leave it on the camera. The magnetic attachment of the Allen key (hex key) in the base of the plate is secure and it is really handy to have it there. It won't come out in normal use and adds virtually nothing to the weight. 5

RRS's custom camera plates are expensive and this one is no exception. But if you expect to need to use your SL2 on a tripod often and in challenging environments this plate is absolutely worth the investment for the following reasons. (1) It's precision-machined and fits the SL2 like Leica would have made it fit. (2) It's easy to attach with the magnetically-attached Allen wrench. (3) Its width is adjustable, via the same wrench. That's a very handy feature for usability. You can even completely remove the side bar if you don't need it. I don't like spending too much for accessories. But the RRS SL2 plate is fairly priced for its value. 5

This L-Plate is being used on a SL2. The Leica SL2 with a 24-90 lens on is fairly heavy. The L-Plate is very well designed and holds my investment in Leica well on the tripod. Never worry about having a problem with camera and tripod. These guys at Really Right Stuff have great Engineering and great product. Just ordered another one for my Sony A7R4. 5

I like having some protection on my cameras, and this is a nice 'extra roll cage' that wasn't there. It's sharply made, and the mag-keeper allen wrench is a boon. Easy access to the battery, and this pretty much lives on my SL2. 5
