Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the tripod head be changed out?

A: Unfortunately, the tripod head is fixed on the SA1241.

Q: 2. Is this light stand strong enough to hold a boom pole with a large rycote blimp dead cat?

A: The Sirui Carbon Fiber Air-Cushioned Light Stand (9.2') BH #SICFACLS92 is rated for 22lbs. As long as you properly counterbalance the boom and the total load does not exceed the stands load limit then you should be fine.

Q: 3. what is the Footprint Diameter measurement?

A: B&H does not stock this stand to check however going on other stands the footprint diameter should be roughly 45" but because the manufacture does not publish the footprint diameter this may be a bit more or less. It is just an estimate.

Q: 4. I do not see the "MAX STABILITY" indicator on the column as referenced in the instructions. Where is it?

A: I will recommend not more than 9'' above ground for maximum stability if you won't be attaching a sandbag on the Manfrotto 5002BL Nano Plus Stand (6.5').

Q: 5. Will this work with fugifilm cameras

A: Yes and no. Yes, this is strong enough for any Fujifilm camera, including the GFX-series of cameras. No, because this is just the SKU for the tripod legs and doesn't work with any camera until completed with a tripod head of some sort. Compatibility with camera systems and the tripod head is a separate topic/question all together.

Q: 6. What are the diameters of the sections?

A: As per the manufacturer, the diameters of each section are as follows: 52mm, 48mm, 44mm, 41mm, 37mm, 34mm, and 31mm.

Q: 7. has anyone used this? how does it compare to a wimberly? are vibrations damped well or poorly? thanks!

A: This is one of the best gimbals. It is carbon fiber, by that material alone it has less vibration then others. The Wimberley WH-200 is also considered one of the best as well, but is not made of Carbon Fiber.

Q: 8. Are the Manfrotto nano light stands made in Italy or China? Thanks.

A: Depends on the model this specific one is made in China.

Q: 9. What's the footprint?

A: Nissin lists the Nissin NDLS-55C Carbon Fiber Light Stand as, Minimum-Maximum Footprint The length of each leg from the center column is 18”. When placed against a wall, the min-max distance from the wall to the outside leg is 20-27”.

Q: 10. how stable is the camera in a breeze? Any rock or waviness?

A: It is recommended to use the Studio Assets Stabilization Spreader Kit for the MegaMast, BH # STSA1250 for further stabilization on this stand. https://bhpho.to/31OL1PV

This is a perfect little stand for me. I've been using it outdoors (trails, etc.) and the adjustable leg is perfect for maintaining balance. So light, compact, and easy to adjust. I'll probably save up and get another in the near future. Also purchased the Manfrotto Cold Shoe Tilt Head, which seems an excellent match so far.

If you travel, or even if you don't and need a light stand this is as good as it will ever get! This is strong and EXTREMELY well made. So small and lite when folded but so sturdy and tall when extended! If NASA made a light stand it wouldn't be as good as this thing!!

These are by far the most compact and lightweight stands I own. Overall I really like the mechanism; it even appears bolted instead of riveted, which is promising for potential repairs. I use these as ultra-portable mic stands; I can carry about 5-6 of these in the same space and weight as I used to two traditional steel mic stands or four aluminum stands (1051BAC). I've tried most of the other carbon fiber stands on the market and as of writing, these are the best I've found.

The stands fit together nicely in a bag, so they are very easy and tidy to pack or stack as needed for storage and transport. They also are some of the shortest stands I've ever seen, very easy to fit on a backpack's tripod holder.

For negatives, it's definitely a little flimsy if loaded anywhere near capacity, and prone to minor bending/swaying. An aluminum stand like a 1051BAC is much sturdier, but at the cost of weight and length. I'm also not really a fan of the blue accents; I wish they just did a matte grey, but I guess anything is better than red accents.

Compared to the 65C, this stand extends less, is more flimsy, but comes with a levelling leg and is lighter and more compact. In general I prefer the 65C for my needs (I never need a leveling leg, and appreciate the extra height and sturdiness), but if you really need every oz/g and in/cm in your loadout, these are great.
