Q: 3. I'm looking for a tripod that will support a Nikon 500mm F4 on a gimbal that won't break the bank. Is this tripod stable enough for that lens?

A: Please take a look at the following 2 links below. The Manfrotto 028B Tripod Let and the Wimberly WH-200 Gimbal Head. This will work for the Nikon 500 with the Nikon DSLR. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/554068-REG/Manfrotto_028B_028B_Studio_Pro_Triman.html + https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/404536-REG/Wimberley_WH_200_Gimbal_Type_Tripod_Head.html?sts=pi

Q: 4. Is this light stand strong enough to hold a boom pole with a large rycote blimp dead cat?

A: The Sirui Carbon Fiber Air-Cushioned Light Stand (9.2') BH #SICFACLS92 is rated for 22lbs. As long as you properly counterbalance the boom and the total load does not exceed the stands load limit then you should be fine.

Q: 5. After the leg spread angle is set, if I push on a leg towards the center will it move? Are the legs truly locked in place?

A: Hobolite Carbon Fiber Light Stand (3') has a dual screw size 1/4" and 3/8".

Q: 9. How tall is this tripod with the center column moved all the way down? I prefer not to extend it for stability purposes.

A: The height of the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod with the Center Column all the way down is 55" / 139.7 cm.

Q: 10. has anyone used this? how does it compare to a wimberly? are vibrations damped well or poorly? thanks!

A: This is one of the best gimbals. It is carbon fiber, by that material alone it has less vibration then others. The Wimberley WH-200 is also considered one of the best as well, but is not made of Carbon Fiber.

It's incredibly light and relatively sturdy. Much sturdier than the similar design Manfrotto. It weights nothing but can hold a B10 + the OCF octabox no problem. Can be attached to bagpack if fully collapsed. Very convenient tool for a travel photography.

If you know what you're doing this can use a boom on it. And holds a ad400 easy with a 120 easy octa. If you go to Elinchrom with the light head design it holds anything. I use with a AB200 on a extension with a 120 octa and a Rode Carbon Boom with AB200 on extension with pack as balancing weight. A great stand.

This is a great investment, light and strong will hold a profoto B10 and a CheetahStand 28” octabox with no issues. I highly recommend this for the traveling photographer.

These are exceptional stands; they're very sturdy for their weight and size, yet fold down smaller than just about anything that can get this tall. As far as I have found, these are the best mass-production carbon fiber stands. Like the 55C's, they fit together nicely in a bag and are very easy and compact to transport. The construct is exceptional; they appear bolted rather than riveted, so, fingers crossed for reparability. They are feather-weight, but surprisingly sturdy, even at a significant extension.

I use these as ultra-lightweight, ultra-compact mic stands. I can fit about four of these in the space of two typical steel mic stands, and they weight way less too. Thanks to these I can solo record just about anything; no truck, no roadies. These are tall enough to hold orchestral mains, yet small enough to fit on a backpack's tripod holder, which is super impressive, though you do need to be more careful about weight (and weight distribution) with these obviously. Most impressively, they are more compact AND lighter than my other lightweight favorite, Manfrotto 1051BAC, yet get 2 feet higher.

I overall prefer these to the 55C because they don't have a levelling leg (which I don't need for my typically-indoor use case), and are both taller and sturdier while not really being that much longer or heavier.

My only real dislike is the blue accents I guess. I just think matte/powdered grey would look nicer, especially if they end up in the shot, but it's an admittedly very subjective and minor critique.
