The SGM-3500 Broadcast Shotgun Microphone from Azden is designed for video and audio production with a camcorder, video DSLR, or portable audio recorder. With a frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, it is suitable for on-camera mounting or as a boom pole microphone in professional video productions.

Measuring nearly 7" long, the SGM-3500's interference tube generates a supercardioid polar pattern and offers excellent rejection of off-axis sound. Featuring an all metal brass body that provides optimal RF rejection and durability, 48V phantom power, a gold-plated XLR connector to ensure a good connection and high resistance to corrosion and a boosted frequency response around 5 kHz where speech articulation is most present for clarity, the SGM-3500 boasts an ultralow noise floor at 13 dB for crystal clear audio.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, does this shotgun mic work with the canon c100? Thanks!

A: It sure will.

Q: 2. shoud i buy the shockmount seperately or it will be provided in the 199 dollar pack ?

A: The Azden SGM-250MX Shotgun Microphone comes with Azden's SMH-X Universal Shockmount for Camera Shoes and Boompoles.

Q: 3. Is it possible to use the SGM-250CX with a GH4? Or is there any way to get high quality sound with the GH4 (other than using a separate audio recorder)? Thank you for help.

A: Hello. The SGM-250CX can only work with the GH4 if you're using some sort of small audio mixer/XLR adapter. Currently, Panasonic makes a small XLR adapter box that mounts to the hot shoe, but that is only compatible with the GH5. If you're using the GH4, it will only work using something like our FMX-DSLR 2-channel audio mixer, or something like a Zoom or Tascam product.

Q: 4. The specs indicate the operating voltage to be 11 - 50 volts. When I use this Azden mic with the Xvive U3C Wireless transmiiter, may I keep the transmitter phantom power voltage switch at 12 v instead of 48 v so I may get 7 hours battery power usage out of the transmitter as opposed to 5 hours usage using the 48 v setting?

A: Yes that is exactly what you should do.

Q: 5. I saw a user photo on the Canon C70 listing with this microphone attached. Will it work on the C70?

A: Yes, the Canon EOS C70 Cinema Camera has the necessary phantom-powered Mini XLR microphone inputs to work with the Azden SGM-250MX Mini-XLR Shotgun Microphone with Windshield Kit for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema (Shockmount, Phantom Only).

Q: 6. What are the measurements of this mic? Looking to buy the Auray shock mount.

A: Dimensions of the Azden SGM-250 Shotgun Microphone 250 x 21mm (9.84 x 0.83”) (Length x Diameter)

Q: 7. What does the CX suffix stand for? Camera XLR?

A: While the manufacturer does not specify, we believe it refers to Cabled XLR.

Q: 8. Does this mic need phantom power?

A: Yes it does, which you have to turn on from the audio settings on the BMPCC.

Q: 9. Will this mount onto the tilta cage for the bmpcc 4k?

A: This shotgun mic will mount into the shoe on the top of the Tilta Camera Cage for Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K/6K (Basic Kit, Tilta Gray), BH #TITAT01BG.

Q: 10. Can I use Azden SGM-250MX with Blackmagic Production Camera 4K ?

A: No, the Production 4k does not have the proper connection for this mic. For the Production 4k, we'd recommend a standard xlr based shotgun such as BH# SEMKE600, paired with this Saramonic mixer, BH #SABMCCA01, meant to give you TRS 1/4'' outputs for the Production 4k.
