The FotodioX 145mm Circular Polarizer Filter is compatible with the FotodioX WonderPana 145, FreeArc, and Absolute filter holder systems. It helps to reduce reflections as well as glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

The FotodioX 145mm Circular Polarizer Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and features lightweight, aluminum-alloy filter rings. A rear filter ring connects to a compatible filter holder while four brass knobs along the side of the front filter ring allow the filter glass to be easily rotated. This provides the ability to achieve the desired degree of polarization even if another filter is placed in front of the FotodioX 145mm Circular Polarizer Filter.

Usually I hand hold the filter. But since I start to do panorama I need the fliter (ND garduated) to be consistenly positionned between the different frame...this item do the job very well. 5

The Lee Foundation Kit is beautifully made and functions perfectly with the Lee filters. As you may know, these filter holders are usually in short supply, (as are the Lee filters) so I had to wait a month or two after deciding to purchase until they arrived in the store. Well worth the wait though. Remember you also need to purchase an adapter ring for each lens with which you plan to use the filters, and they too can be hard to come by. 5

The Lee filter system is the best addition to my photography toolkit that I could have made. Combined with Graduated ND, solid ND and graduated color tint filters, it has completely changed the quality of my work, and my approach to photography. I now have the control that I always wanted for landscape photography, and the ability to capture the scenes I envision. The foundation kit is adaptable to all of my lenses with the help of fairly cheap adapter rings, which makes the more expensive purchase of filters much easier to swallow. The only real con I would not is supply problems. Lee filters are EXTREMELY difficult to get. I am not sure what the issue is, or why it is so difficult, however I have waited months for a single item to be in stock, and have to be ready and waiting the moment it is available to put in an order. I have missed a newly stocked Lee item by a mere couple of hours, and had to wait for months again to get what I needed. Singh-Ray filters are also of excellent quality, and compatible with the Lee filter system, and they seem to be much more readily available (if lacking a bit in variety.) Overall a superb product, but disappointing when you can't actually get the filters (or foundation kit parts) ... 5
