The 0.6, 100 x 150mm Hard-Edge Reverse Graduated Nano IRND Filter from NiSi is compatible with filter holders that support 2mm-thick, 100 x 150mm rectangular filters, including the NiSi 100mm system. It can be used to darken bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.

This filter has a 0.6 band of density across its center region. After a hard-edged line of transition, it tapers to a clear area. This design allows the filter to match the sun's position when it is at or immediately above the horizon. The hard-edged line of transition is useful for hard transitions between the sky and land. The filter features a waterproof and low reflection nano coating and comes with a leatherette carry pouch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could you provide a more specific nm range for this, or is the spectrum available?

A: Unfortunately, ND filters like the Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop) that cut UV and IR light do not specify a nanometer range. This is because they are meant for long exposures photos without a color shift and not for IR photography.

Q: 2. If this filter is NOT safe for direct eye viewing, why should I believe it IS safe for a camera's sensor? Please convince me.

A: The NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (16.5-Stop) is safe for camera sensors when used carefully and following the instructions. The sensitivities of eyes and sensors are different and what is good for one may not be good for the other. This filter has been used on cameras without causing any sensor damage.

Q: 3. What color will the sun be orange or white ? The sample photos show both.

A: The NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop) will provide the most color-neutral results. The saturation of the color is based on post image editing and/or the brightness of the sun.

Q: 4. Could this be used for video? We are hoping to use a Canon XF105 to livestream the upcoming solar eclipse.

A: Yes, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter can be used for video as well as photography.

Q: 5. Can you tell how the Nisi S6 True Color CPL differs from the Nisi S6 Pro CPL Enhanced (Landscape NC)?

A: The NiSi Enhanced Landscape CPL has increased saturation, cooler tones, And it includes Nano coating compared to the True Color CPL.

Q: 6. Will this work on the Nisi S5 filter holder?

A: The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Frame would work in place of a NiSi S5 Filter Holder.

Q: 7. I wish to use this filter to view the total solar eclipse. Is it good for that?

A: No, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (58mm, 16.5-Stop) is not designed for solar eclipse.

Q: 8. Can I use this with the nikon Z 24-70 F4? The nikon website lists diameter as 77.5.

A: The Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens has a filter thread of 72mm. If you want to attach the filter directly to the lens with an adapter, you would want to get his option instead: https://bit.ly/3ujiIec

Q: 9. How many 4X5.6 filter can it hold?

A: As per the manufacturer, the S6 150mm Filter Holder Pouch is designed to fit up to (2) 150 x 150mm filters or 150 x 170mm filters with a thickness of 2mm. For your needs, you may want to consider the Ruggard 10-Pocket Filter Pouch for 4 x 6" Filters, BH # RUFP4610. https://bhpho.to/3jH1vlU

Q: 10. is this appropriate for shooting solar eclipses?

A: Yes, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (67mm, 16.5-Stop) can be used for solar eclipse shots. Note, it is not safe for direct viewing of the Sun.
