The ZC-Bob Wall-Mounted Breakout Box from dbx is a utility device intended to allow connection between dbx Zone Controllers and the DriveRack and ZonePRO devices. The ZC-Bob can take DC control voltages from up to six RJ-45 connected Zone Controller devices for distances up to 1000 feet using parallel wiring and send them via one RJ-45 output to either the DriveRack or ZonePro, for home cable runs or via Cat 5 / Cat 5e cable for parallel wiring. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What are the dimensions of the wall mounting bracket?

A: The Impact 7 ft HD Wall-Mounted Boom Arm is 46.18 x 8.78 x 4.78 inches.

Q: 2. what is length of boom arm fully retracted? thanx...

A: The Impact 7' HD Wall-Mounted Boom Arm at the smallest is 3.9 feet.

Q: 3. Can the arm be locked in place when both panning and tilting? It's clear that the tilt offers a lock, but unclear whether the pan can be locked.

A: No, the panning motion of the Impact 7 ft HD Wall-Mounted Boom Arm does not have a lock to lock the arm in place.

Q: 4. Is this a typical light stand mount? Like, could I used this to mount some video lights to some exposed ceiling joists?

A: The ALZO Wall-Mounted Camera Support with Ball Head has a 1/4"-20 mount which many lights are able to mount on to. ALZO Digital lists the maximum load capacity as 6 lb but recommends using this setup with a payload up to 2 lb, so the light that is mounted would be recommended to be under this weight.

Q: 5. Can the boom are be swiveled/panned flush against the wall or not? I see conflicting responses. Some say yes, others say no. One reviewer stated that he 'wished it would pivot 180 degrees'. Specifically, with nothing mounted to the end of the boom, can the boom arm pivot on the mounting bracket so that the spigot end goes all the way to the wall? Or does the design of the mounting bracket/pivot bolts prevent it from rotating that far?

A: Yes. When fully extended the boom arm offers the flexibility of 180° of tilt and 170° of pan movement. Length is adjustable via a locking ratchet handle, and a locking knob on the support tube provides for extra reinforcement for your payload.

Q: 6. can a ring light be attached to this mount?

A: If your ring light has the standard 5/8" light stand receptacle on the bottom of the light fixture, then yes, it would be able to connect to the Impact 7 ft HD Wall-Mounted Boom Arm. If the ring light you own does not have a 5/8" receptacle, then you would need an adapter that converts the standard 5/8" baby stud on the boom arm to the connection used by your ring light.

Q: 7. I searched for "break-out boxes," but was hoping to find something that would facilitate 'monitoring' the charging voltage to a cell phone. Does anyone know of a better search criteria to 'dredge up' such an item?

A: The dBx BOB is a system specific product for dbx Drive Rack. Monitoring of charging voltage to a cell phone is generally less important than monitoring the current.

Q: 8. Will this work with Cambridge Audio DACmagic 200 over coax?

A: Yes, the GeerFab Audio D.BOB (Digital Breakout Box) could feed the S/PDIF Co-axial input of the DacMagic 200M Digital to Analogue Converter from its own S/PDIF Co-axial output connection.

Q: 9. Can this bracket be mounted on just one stud in the wall? Using two or four screws through the center holes?

A: I mounted it into a stud with two screws on one side , and used heavy-duty anchors through the two screw holes on the opposite side. I think you need to use the four screw holes, because it is quite heavy once you have a light attached. Having four points of anchor will give it more stability in the long run. This is an awesome product, and well worth the time to install correctly.

Q: 10. Can you mount a camera to the end for overhead shots?

A: Yes, I would recommend attaching a ball head first for optimal movement.

This is a heavy duty light mounting option, and it easily holds my Godox SL60 with a softbox. I purchases this model over other brands because it seems to be the longest on the market. This allows me to shoot from multiple angles within my studio with minimal setup. Be sure to mount directly to a wall stud because the boom is heavy on it's own, but add a light at length and that's a lot even for drywall anchors. Once it's set its very functional, easy to adjust, super sturdy, and best of all, there's nothing to knock over or trip on.
