You can extend and collapse the 58mm FotodioX 3-Section Rubber Lens Hood, which has a metal ring, to different lengths to accommodate wide, normal, and telephoto focal lengths. Therefore, it matches the field-of-view and does not cause any vignetting in the image while it is being captured. The hood blocks stray light from entering the lens, which reduces lens flare or glare, and it protects the front element from scratches and accidental impact.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it fit to Sony alpha 600 16 - 55 mm lens

A: The lens hood is a screw-on (55mm male threads). I use it on a Canon f1.2 Rangefinder lens (55mm female threads for filter attachment) adapted to a Sony Alpha7II camera

Q: 2. Just to clarify...What size lens cap fits the B+W 55mm #900 Rubber Lens Hood once collapsed? (Does a 55mm center pinch lens cap fit the B+W 55mm #900 hood OR does it take a smaller/ larger diameter cap? Thanks!

A: It is our opinion if this takes a lens cap, it would be a 55mm cap.

Q: 3. will this fit a Minolta MC Rokkor X 50mm PG f/1.4 ?

A: Yes. The 55mm filter thread of the 50mm PG f1.4 will accommodate this hood.

Q: 4. Can a filter of the same thread diameter be used with the lens hood in place?

A: Yes, you can attach the filter to the lens first and then the hood on top or attach the hood first and then screw the filter into the hood.

Q: 5. What is the depth of the 58mm hood?

A: The lens hood is approximately 4" deep.

Q: 6. Is this threaded on the front as well as the rear?

A: Yes the front thread of this #900 Rubber Lens hood is the same size as the rear thread.

Q: 7. Will this: B+W 49mm #900 Rubber Lens Hood B&H # BWLHR49 MFR # 65-069598 Work with a 35mm lens on full frame; specificaly on Sony RX1(R) and without vignetting?

A: I shoot 35 mm film so I suppose one could say that I shoot full frame. I do not experience any vignetting. I have two or three of these and have used them for over 25 years. Obviously I like them.

Q: 8. Do they fit the Fujifilm X100-series?

A: the lens hood fits my Sony A6000. It can only be used from 50mm and beyond because it vignets. I do not use it.

Q: 9. For the 67mm, does it work with Tamron 28-75 2.8 RXD for Sony Full Frame? I saw a similar review but unsure if it was this specific lens.

A: My experiences only with a Canon G15 and a Bower 58mm lens adaptor AND this Rubber lens hood. Vignetting was bothersome at wide 28mm zoom position (widest for G15) My solution was to purchase a 58mm Sensei screw-on Tulip lens hood. Vignetting was much reduced but still can be seen slightly at the 28mm wide angle setting. By cropping the images, we can live with the problem.

Q: 10. Are these made of "soft" rubber, or is there a fair amount of stiffness? Example - if I rest my camera on a flat surface, will the weight of most standard lenses collapse the bottom of the hood? Trying to get an idea for how much "flex" these rubber hoods have.

A: If resting your camera on a flat surface, the #900 Rubber Lens Hood would flex slightly.

I have yet to have an issue with any Sensei product; this good is no exception. Using on a Sigma Quattro DP3 as I simply prefer rubber to metal shades. Works with the standard lens and the conversion extension just fine, no vignetting even with a UV & polarizer combined!
