From macro to infinity, the Sony E-mount Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2X Ultra-Macro from Venus Optics is a prime portrait-length lens offering the unique ability to photograph close-up subjects from 2.4" away at a 2:1 magnification ratio as well as distant subjects with infinity focus. The versatility offered by this manual focus lens benefits working with close-up subjects and then quickly switching to full-length subjects at distance without the need of extension tubes or other adapters. The lens is optimized for use on APS-C format sensors, where it will provide a 90mm equivalent focal length, and it can also be used on full-frame cameras, however some vignetting will occur when focused at infinity.

The lens's construction incorporates nine elements in seven groups, and two of the lens groups move in order to control focusing and to avoid barrel distortions. This design also helps to maintain high image clarity, sharpness, and color accuracy. A rounded 14-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth out-of-focus quality that is especially beneficial when working with near subjects and selective focus techniques.

Prime short-telephoto lens is designed for APS-C-format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 90mm equivalent focal length. It is also suitable for use with full-frame cameras, however some vignetting will occur when focused at infinity; it is ideal for full-frame use for macro applications.

The lens is capable of focusing on subjects as near as 2.4" away with a 2:1 magnification ratio for greater-than-life size macro shooting without the need of extension tubes or adapters. Additionally, the lens is also able to achieve infinity focus with a 1:10 magnification ratio for general shooting applications.

Manual focus and manual aperture setting design does not maintain any electronic communication with the camera.

Nine-element-in-seven-group construction produces a high degree of clarity throughout the focusing range as well as accurate color rendering.

Two lens groups move during focusing in order to control barrel distortion.

Rounded 14-blade diaphragm produces a smooth out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques.

Built-in lens hood helps to deflect stray light from causing lens flare or ghosting.

All-metal lens barrel offers ensured durability and rigidity.

In addition to the lens itself, a protective filter pouch and a 62mm UV filter are also included.

A: I have not heard that issue before with the Venus Optics Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2X Ultra-Macro Lens for Canon EF-Mount.

Q: 4. RF 100 macro on R6. I can focus and everything, but can't shoot. Just got lens today. Is it defective or am I missing a setting? I've tried in AV and M modes.

A: Venus Optics Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens for Canon RF does not have any electronic contacts to comunicate with your Canon EOS R6 mirrorless camera. You would need to enable the camera to shoot without a lens. Please follow the steps below. Menu button - C.Fn4 - Release shutter w/o lens- ON.

Q: 5. Construction

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens for Canon RF has 12 optical elements in 10 groups.

Q: 6. Is this a fx lens I want to shoot me d800, it says it is optimized for dx?

A: Yes, this is a full frame lens.

Q: 7. Is this compatible with the Pentax K-1?

A: Yes this lens is compatible with the Pentax K1.

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible with TTL metering on a Nikon D750?

A: Yes and no. Modern TTL systems use multiple factors in calculating exposure. One of those is distance to the subject as determined by feedback from AF lenses. With manual focus lenses this is not the case. But the original and still most important feedback comes from the sensor itself as it reads the light coming Through The Lens when the pre-flash and actual flash illuminate the subject, so you should be okay.

Q: 9. What extension tubes can we use with this lens for nikon mount? Any nikon extensions?

A: It's an all manual lens, so you don't have electronic contacts to worry about. Without that comparability issue, any set of extension tubes should work as long as they match the mount you buy it in. If you're looking for maximum magnification, you can pair the extension tubes with teleconverters in various arrangements. I've seen people get around 8:1 magnification with this lens that way.

Q: 10. Will this work with Fuji cameras?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2X Ultra-Macro Lens for Canon EF is designed for use with cameras that use the Canon EF lens mount. It is not designed for direct usage with Fujifilm cameras. If you are looking for a lens adapter to connect the Venus Optics Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2X Ultra-Macro Lens for Canon EF onto a Fujifilm camera that uses the Fujifilm X-mount lens mount, the Vello Canon EF/EF-S Lens to Fujifilm X-Mount Camera Lens Adapter, BH #VELAFXCEF, and the FotodioX Mount Adapter for Canon EOS Lens to Fujifilm X-Mount Camera, BH #FOEOSFXRF, would be options that are compatible for your usage needs.
