I shoot weddings and events, lots of them. First, let me say that this camcorder is a bit advanced from the pro consumer camcorders. I say this because I read two negitative reviews and, in my own opinion, those persons perhaps do not know beyond the basics or maybe expecting something way farther advanced. Either way this is a great camcorder for what I do. My gear must include better than average indoor shooting with lower than average grain effect. Wow, I found it with the HC-X1 4K Ultra HD Professional Camcorder. I use the UHD setting, 60p @120 for most outdoor and in good light shooting. When the lights dim, I use UHD 60p @ 60 or 30p @ 60 with great results. The focus is faster than I had expected and even has a setting for focus delay, ex. for that guest who just walked across the front of the camera. There are many presets for your tweeking needs as well. I edit in .MOV or .MP4 setting using Adobe PProCS6. However, I found that by first using a third party conversation ( I use Wondershare) I can bring it all down to 1080 which helps streamline the editing process while keeping all those many wonderful colorful pixels pack in there. Great camcorder to have as 4K is making its way around to be the norm someday. Will be buying another soon.

I like this camera. I mostly film stage shows like community theater. I've film one show so far and the camera has nice colors, a great zoom lens and records in 4k at 60p which is the main reason I wanted this camera. It seems better in low-light than my AG-AC160 but not as good as my Sony A7S ii (obviously). The design feels rugged and an improvement over past Panasonic cameras in this price point. I typically film in 4k and drop the footage into an HD timeline which allows me to pan-and-scan the footage and re-crop it as I see fit. The 60p in 4k gets rid of that jerky feel that 30p 4k can produce. So far so good.

I reviewed video from every source I could find for 3 months before buying this camera. I purchased it because of the 4K and high bitrate capability. I held off of reviewing until after I shot and edited a National commercial with it. I was a pure canon guy before this and always bought into the idea that to be a true professional producer you had to film commercials using a Canon C type it the like. I was wrong. The client did not seem to even notice that I switched cameras and this was so much easier to use. During my edit the higher bitrate held up very well to color correction. I could say a lot more but for now, I am very impressed with this camera and have nothing at all negative to say about it. I have been producing commercials for over 20 years.

Liking it. The LCD doesn't really show you how great the picture is. At first I thought the camera wasn't so good until I got the clips into my computer, then wow.

Very happy with this Panasonic !!! Prior to the HC-X1, I was shooting using my Canon C100. Having now used the HC-X1 on a few gigs, I can say that it outperforms the Canon C100. The fact that it is a fixed-lens camera doesn't bother me in the least; I am more concerned with shoot quality. I shoot mostly classical music concerts and recitals, using available lighting at the venue. This camera works well in low-light (definitely better than my C100). The zoom is great. The auto-focus is great. I use manual control for everything except focus. I have not tried 4K yet, but my 1080P footage looks quite good. There is a series of 14 YouTube videos (Barry Green's UX Series Cameras) that are very helpful. Note: the Panasonic AG-UX180 is the same as the HC-X1, plus timecode and SDI outputs. All info about the UX180 applies to the HC-X1. I plan to sell my C100 and get another HC-X1 (or UX180). Take some time to learn the extensive professional controls, and you will achieve great results !!!

So after being in business for 27 years and having owned/operated several SSony's (CCD-V500, PD150's), a JVC (DV500), and Canon AH-X1's (for the past 10 yrs) it was time to upgrade, and this time Panasonic had all the right features. We received our 2 cameras on a Thursday and filmed a musical with them that Sunday. My hopes was to get images at least similar to what we were used to with the Canons. (so we wouldn't need to re-shoot) As these were our first Panasonics, we had no reference point as to gain limit before noise, color profiles, zebra accuracy, and focus accuracy.....completely blown away with the resulting FHD image at 100mbs. I can't imagine how happy we will be once we really know the ins and outs of this camera. Dropped $8500 cash on the 2 setups and I do not have any buyers remorse at all. (that's a first!) Nicely done Panasonic.

I moved from the Sony Z1 HDV to a Canon DSLR for progressive 1080HD quality and depth of field control. I missed the solid feeling of the Z1, the built in XLR audio inputs and zoom control of a video camera. The HC-X1 offers a 4K option with all of the controls I use, and then some. Solidly built with incredible picture quality.
