The Cokin 72mm NUANCES Clearsky Filter is designed to reduce the appearance of light pollution in images or video that include the night sky and illumination from artificial light sources. This effect can be obtained when this filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed or on a digital camera system with its daylight white balance setting selected.

Light pollution occurs in areas of the night sky that are above or near concentrated and intense sources of artificial light such as cities. These light sources can include exterior and interior lamps for commercial or residential buildings, brightly lit advertisements such as billboards, streetlamps, as well as sports and entertainment venues. Together they can result in a type of light pollution known as sky glow, where individual stars, the Milky Way, and other astronomical features in the night sky are obscured. Additionally, artificial lights clustered together can become difficult to individually discern. Light pollution from these "cluttered" sources can become a source of distraction within an image and can resemble overexposed areas of glare.

When used, the Cokin 72mm NUANCES Clearsky Filter can improve the results of nighttime images by absorbing the yellow light from sodium-vapor lamps or mercury-vapor lamps, common light sources within urban areas. By preventing the dominant wavelengths of light associated with the color of those lamps from being recorded, the visibility of astronomical objects is enhanced, and artificial light sources are more clearly defined with less glare and improved contrast.

This filter is constructed from optical-quality neodymium glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It features an aluminum alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this filter compatible with fujifilm x100V lens?

A: Yes, this filter is compatible with the X100V.

Q: 2. Does this fit the Fuji X20 model?

A: To use the Fujifilm 52mm Protector Filter, you will need to use an adapter ring, as you cannot directly attach filters to the Fujifilm X20 camera: http://bhpho.to/1k3j2Az

Q: 3. Some weeks I bought a Fujifilm X-T20 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 16-50mm, and I was trying to find information if this filter would work with my camera?.I'll be waiting for your reply.

A: Yes this 58mm protector filter will fit. If you look at the inside of your XC16-50mm lens cap it shows 58 . Same thing shows on the lens looking at the front face 58

Q: 4. How many millimeters of extra distance does this push out the filter holder from the filter ring of the lens? I realize the height of this is 11.4mm, but the amount of extension will of course be less. Thanks!

A: The Cokin 72mm Extension Ring increase the distance beween th lens and the filter holder for 5mm. You can stack multiple rings until you get the distance needed for your composition.

Q: 5. Does that filter can be used with LH-70 ?

A: It screws into the adapter ring provided with the LH-70. Works quite well. No complaints.

Q: 6. do i need a separate filter adapter?

A: Nope...fits threads on the 23, 35 and 50mm f/2 lenses.

Q: 7. Is this filter ring in black? (Not silver one). I would like to buy it to match with my X100T Black.

A: The PRF49S listed on B&H's site is silver and matches the silver version of X100T / X100S / X100. Fujifilm did inlude the black version with the special edittion (black) of the X100 but I do not know if it is avaiable separately. Nonetheless, why not use a top notch B&W filter -- in black? The motivation behindf the Fujifilm silver filter is to match the camera. This will not be a problem with the B&W filter and a black X100T.

Q: 8. What color does this come in? I have the black FujiFilm X100T and would like this to match. Thanks!

A: Fujifilm filters are finished in black with white lettering. They perfectly match the black finish of Fuji lenses. However a 67mm filter will not fit your camera. The correct filter size is the fujifilm 49mm protector filter.

Q: 9. s9900w can use?

A: The FinePix S9900W does not list a 58mm filter thread to attach this filter. According to Fujifilm it will not be compatible.

Q: 10. Does the lens hood still fit in conjunction with the filter?

A: I bought the 43mm filter to go with the XF23mmF2 fuji lens. With the filter on the lens and lens cap in place, I cannot install the lens hood. But if I install the lens hood first, on top of the filter, the lens cap fits easily. In short, it works. The lens hood I am talking about is a little tiny plastic hood that comes with the 23mm lens. So tiny that I don't bother using it. But I have found that for the 8 Fuji X lenses that I own, the Fuji filters always work with the Fuji lens hoods. Hope this is helpful.
