Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi...how this lens compares with Milvus 100mm f2.0?

A: Otus is Zeiss state of the art lens series. ZEISS Otus 100mm f/1.4 ZE Lens for Canon EF is a small telephoto lens with one of the sharpest optical quality and built for portraiture excellency. ZEISS Milvus 100mm f/2M ZE is a macro lens. Both lenses are extremely sharp but when compare side by side under portrait option the Zeiss Otus series is superior. Physically Zeiss Otus lenses are almost twice the weight and substantially larger than Zeiss Milvus series.

Q: 2. Is there a version that can carry more NVMEs and also has 100 GBE / Infiniband EDR connectivity?

A: This TBS-464 does not have a bigger or faster variant.

Q: 3. Does the Milvus provide focus assist in the view finder?

A: Yes, with the shutter pressed half way and as the lens is focused, the focus assist in the camera viewfinder is utilized.

Q: 4. Is there the same type cable as this but longer than 9"? I need it for a GH5 on a gimbal.

A: I would say 12 to 14 inches.

Q: 5. I love Zeiss lenses & currently own milvus 25mm & APO Sonnar 135mm lenses. I currently have Sigma 85mm Art lens & thinking of buying a Milvus 85mm or Sigma 105mm Art lens & sell 85mm Art later. I shoot portraits using live view, so manual focus is not an issue. From purely optical quality perspective, which lens is the better in terms of bokeh, color, micro contrast, sharpness an subject separation ability?

A: My recommendation is to rent the lens and compare. Many of the attributes you call out are subjective and cannot be measured / compared between brands. The only way to know for sure is a side-by-side comparison using the same camera, lighting and subject matter.

Q: 6. Will the Sescom LN@MIC-TASDR100 work with a Panasonic gh4?

A: Yes, the Sescom LN2MIC-TASDR100 Line Out to Camera Mic Level In Cable will work to adapt a line level output device signal into the microphone input on the Panasonic Lumix GH4 Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 7. How many channels of audio does the cable send?

A: This, Sescom LN2MIC-TASDR100 Line Out to Camera Mic Level In Cable, is intended to pass stereo (L/R) signals.

Q: 8. Can the lens hood be reverse mounted on the lens for storage like classic Zeiss ZF.2 / ZE primes, or does the hood have to forever be either on or off the lens?

A: Yes, the lens hood is easily reversed and locks into place folded over the lens body. That's how I store it in my carry case. By the way, this is an astonishing lens. It is every bit as good as the 1.4 Leica lenses I used for many years, and it and the Zeiss 85 are why I have been able to move to Nikon bodies.

Q: 9. Are there different versions of this lens?

A: The only difference is what camera mount it sports. Aside from that there are no other different versions of this lens.

Q: 10. I see the box is phantom powered, but how does it pass 48v to condenser mics? If so, can 48v be turned off for use with dynamic mics?

A: This unit is made to power the Sennheiser MAS-1 button pecifically, to bring power to it and make it programmable for On, On/Off, PTT, and PTM modes. The phantom power from the mixer would go to the connected condenser microphone in the chain and if you are using a dynamic microphone it will not be affected by the condenser power in the line.
