Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Just wanted to ask for some feedback from users. If you had to choose only one, would you choose this or a vest steadicam?

A: Depending on the camera setup and the intention of the shooter, either stabilizer style can excel in production. If you are looking to lighten your overall load with a more handheld-like feel, the Easyrigs are a good solution. If you want a more characteristically cinematic shot I would recommend an arm/vest setup. Personal preference comes into play as well. The design of the Easyrig may not be ideal for certain indoor shots, whereas a arm/vest setup is usually a bit heavier and takes more practice to use effectively.

Q: 2. Would you recommend this easyrig for a movi pro and a light Red camera setup? Or which easyrig would be more appropriate?

A: The Minimax has an operating load of 2-7kg ( 4.4 -15.4lbs). As long as your complete load out ( camera, gimbal, batteries, lens & accessories ) does not exceed the max recommended load you will be able to work with the system.

Q: 3. Hi, will this work with the Smallrig 15mm dual rod mount (942)? I need to connect a follow focus as well as a lens support that bolts onto the lens foot. Can only do this with rods, unfortunately.

A: While it may or may not work depending on how you configure those items together, there is no inherent incompatibility between the SmallRig Extended Quick Release Plate for DJI RS 2/Ronin-S Gimbals (B&H# SM3031B) and the SmallRig 942 Super Lightweight 15mm LWS Rod Bracket v3 (B&H# SM942).

Q: 4. Does this work with regular Arca Swiss tripod heads?

A: The SmallRig Extended Quick Release Plate for Select DJI Ronin Gimbals is a Manfrotto style plate. It is not Arca-Swiss compatible.

Q: 5. Does this vest accommodate for tall people? 6'+?

A: I'm 6'2 and it works great. You can adjust the bar to be a little taller if need be.

Q: 6. Can it safely strap to the SMALLRIG NATO Rail Handle 1955?

A: The camera top handle clamp can attach itself around the SmallRig DSLR Action NATO Handle B&H # SM1955 .

Q: 7. Does this extend far enough for the BMPCC6K Pro with cage?

A: Typically, you should avoid added weight with a camera cage on the gimbal as it can wear out the motors and/or throw off balance. That being said, the Tilta Extended Quick Release Baseplate for Select DJI Gimbals will sit at the bottom of the Tilta Full Camera Cage for BMPCC 6K Pro/G2/BMPCC 6K (B&H # TITAT11FCCB) while a small portion of the extended baseplate protrudes forward.

Q: 8. Would this rig fit female dps that range from height of 52-54?

A: Am a female DP and 5'2 , have used this extensively to op and it has definitely been a great accessory to have. Although I'm probably at the shortest end of what this will fit comfortably and decently. They do make a women's specific vest Cinema Flex Vest that I have tried and really is a much better fit but they're for bigger rigs. As far as the minimax comfort, it's pretty good, not perfect but decent for long shots and helps distribute the pressure.

Q: 9. Can this plate work with the Ronin S and a Canon C70 because of the bulky handgrip?

A: This baseplate is for the RS2. It will not work with the Ronin S.

Q: 10. does it work with WEEBILL S?

A: It will not. We recommend this product instead from Digitalfoto Solutions. https://bhpho.to/3eGpH6z

This is the best head for my Gitzo tripod that I have ever used. I typically use a 500 mm Canon f/4 lens with a Series II Canon 1.4 Extender and a Canon 1ds Mark III camera to capture images of flying raptors or scampering pikas. The WH-200 smooth action and easy-to-access-without-looking control knobs make this head a dream come true for action-oriented wildlife photographers. Also, everything can be securely locked in place for carrying tripod, camera, and lens over the shoulder when walking to your next venue. I highly recommend this head to any photographer using extreme telephotos with a tripod.

If it were possible I would give this product ten stars. It does everything they say it will effortlessly. It is easy to take my camera and lens in and out, and when balanced, it stays wherever you point it. Yesterday I got stunning shots of Ospreys mating. I waited 40 minutes with the camera trained on the nest. When the female arrived and the action started, I needed to only press the shutter. I am becoming fluent in capturing birds in flight very quickly. I cannot say enough good things about this product.

Works like a dream. My setup of D300, TC, and 500mm VR float with the greatest of ease, yet when I really lock it down I don't have to worry about stability.

It's always a pleasure to buy something beautifully built, that does the job it says it will, and then some. This Wimberley gimbal is clearly built up to achieve excellence, not down to a price. While I can't vouch for it's longevity, it looks capable of outlasting me. When the Wimberley is atop my Gitzo 5541LS carbon tripod, my Nikon 400mm f2.8G lens/Nikon D3s combo is solid as a rock and beautifully balanced. The full setup is rapid and accurate to manoeuvre, allowing me to track rapidly moving subjects in sports such as rugby, alpine skiing and surfing.

Wimberley WH-200 is the champion of panorama heads, period, used by pros and avid enthusiasts alike, most useful for big lenses, and very big lenses. Wildlife photography, and bird photography, but also video work is so much easier with this head that can balance your lens and camera combination perfectly. The only heads like it are copies of it!

I use a Nikon 200-400 VRII f4 with a 1.4 TC on a D3 for bird photography. Thats a lot of lens and a lot of weight. I also do a lot of wildlife photography, which by its nature is from a vehicle a lot of the time. I've been reluctant to use a tripod because of space and weight constraints. I finally broke down and bought the Wimberley head to mount on a Gitzo (GT 3541 6X)carbon fiber tripod. The arrangement has changed my life. Yes its extra weight and takes space. But there are shots I have which I would never have made without the arrangement. The genius of the Wimberley is that the camera is perfectly balanced and locked on the head without tightening down the motion control. So you're always ready and can get absolute freedom in a 270 degree sphere of movement for the lens above the tripod. Birds flying fast while gaining or losing altitude? No problem. You can follow effortlessly. The design literally makes the camera weightless. The problem is what to do if you're in a tight space, e.g., in the back of a standard conversion LandCruiser in Africa. Even if you've got the private vehicle, many have pre-configured row seating. You can make it work. But if I don't have space I revert to beanbag or monopod with a ball head. The arrangement is expensive. But if you've got the lens and the body you can probably afford it. Or should find a way to. It has vastly expanded the usability of my camera gear.

You don't have to hold a heavy camera/lens to take pictures. I notice all the serious photographers have the Wimberly Gimble head on their tripods. I am an amature but look to take professional pictures. This is the best and a once in a lifetime purchase, so go for the best.

I plan on using this for wildlife and scenics, this is an excellent product and I love it. I wished I had bought it 10 years ago. and do NOT reccomend anyone trying to save $100 by buying a cheaper version, not worth it if you are using a $10k lense or more. this is a quality product and I would reccomend u buy it, you wont regret it. it is solid and easy to use. it is heavy but thats ok for the excellent quality.

For the last year and a half I had been using a large ball head mount. The frustration of my 200-400mm f/4 VR unexpectedly tipping to one side or the other on the tripod, usually pinching my hand and/or fingers hard, was very irritating! This reminded me of a phrase: with pain come change - I started researching different tripod heads for my Nature/Wildlife photography. I soon realized that the option was narrowed quickly to the Wimberley Gimbel heads!! My expectations were met, maybe exceeded, once I changed out the ball head with the Wimberley Gimbel ! The ease of use of the WH-200, the quality of material, and just the confiidence it brings to its use in the field is beyond outstanding!! Not to mention the feeling like you are moreso up with the professionals that use the same product! I highly reccomend the Whimberley WH-200 Gimbel Tripod Head II !!
