Draw more attention to your subject with a circular spot of focus surrounded by a beautifully blurred background by using the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic, available here with a Nikon Z mount. This updated tool is completely compatible with the established Optic Swap System and can use any of the numerous optics available. This version improves upon the original Pro model by featuring a metal body as well as an improved tilt function that ranges from 0-15° in any direction.

Bundled with it is the Sweet 50, which offers a normal perspective on full-frame cameras. This curved field optic differs from your standard lens by creating a spot of focus when tilted that can be manipulated in position by tilting the Composer and manipulated in size by manually changing the aperture from f/2.5 to 22. The optic also offers manual focus as close as 15" from your subject. Additionally, the Sweet 50 has a 46mm filter thread as well as an internal 12-blade diaphragm for extra smooth out-of-focus areas.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have the composer pro ii in both canon and fuji mounts, and in both the lens is very hard to tilt even with the ring loosened. is this normal?

A: I've not experienced trouble of this kind. It looks as if Lensbaby are offering to take them back for a fix if your problem persists. But it seems odd that you have the problem for both mounts (I assume two Lensbabies). Seems like you need to undo the tension ring, that is not the front silver ring which operates focus. It is the ring closest to the camera that needs to be turned anti clockwise.

Q: 2. Will this work on the SOnya6000?

A: the lens baby site has a compatibility chart for sony cameras. It says it will work but you have to turn off the shutter lock

Q: 3. Can the Sweet 50 be removed from the Composer II so another optic can be used?

A: yes

Q: 4. Will this work with the older Composer Pro?

A: Lens baby does not list on the Lensbaby Sweet 50 Optic for Composer Pro one way or the other if this works with an older version of the Composer Pro. If you have a Composer Pro it technically should work.

Q: 5. Is this a usable lens on its own? Or is it an accessory to a lens? Can I put this on a PL mount camera and shoot video normally?

A: The Lensbaby composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic is a complete two-part lens. However, as stated on the lensbaby web page, it CANNOT be used on a camera with PL lens mount.

Q: 6. I have a lensbaby sweet 56 and purchased it to create the effect of a sharp prime image with blur surrounding. It is a very nice lens, but it doesnt seem to do any more than my 50 mm normal. Open wide and shoot. Same effect. Is this lens any different as far as achieving a blur around the outside? Does it only allow you to move the sweet spot, yet still utilizing a wide open aperture to get the blurring effect? In other words, will my 50mm prime create the same effect? (Except, of course) the sweet spot movement.

A: We don't have a Sweet 56. We have a Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) or we have a Velvet 56 which is a stand alone lens. Two different products and effects. The Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) is 50mm, will give you a sweet spot of focus surrounded by a soft blur. Adjust the aperture for more or less of the soft blur. The Composer Pro II is optic swappable so you can take the Sweet 50 Optic out and put in a new optic for a new effect. It also has a ball-joint so you can move the sweet spot around your frame. If you have issues with a different lens of ours, feel free to reach out directly to Lensbaby and we're happy to help.

Q: 7. Will that work on a Nikon D7100?

A: Yes, the Lensbaby Sweet 50 Optic can be used with your D7100 but I think in the Manual Mode.

Q: 8. Is the composer pro ii compatible with the macro filter kit?

A: Yes the Composer Pro II is compatible with the Lensbaby Macro Conversion Kit.

Q: 9. Is this all you need to start using it with a nikon 810 or do I need another attachment

A: As the Nikon D810 DSLR camera uses the Nikon F-mount lens mount and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F, B&H # LELBCP250, is designed for use on the Nikon F-mount lens mount, no other accessory is needed to connect the lens to the Nikon D810 DSLR camera. It will connect directly to the lens mount on the Nikon D810 DSLR camera.

Q: 10. Is the lensbaby compatible with the Nikon D3300?

A: I own the Composer for Canon.. However, I think the D3300 has a standard Nikon F mount.. So, Yes it should work..
