This 15.7" long 3-Pin Mini-XLR Right-Angle Female to 3-Pin XLR Male Adapter Cable from Ambient Recordings features a female mini-XLR connector where the cable exits the connector to the left, as opposed to the standard straight out the back. The cable is constructed with a braided shield for improved rejection of interference compared to a wrapped foil shield. Instead of PVC, as is common with cheap cables, Ambient uses polyurethane. Even after frequent untwisting and twisting, the plug and cable will not break off.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why won't it work with cameras not named here, such as the Vixia HF-G20 camcorder?

A: This cable is actually compatible with any DSLR camera that has a 3.5mm (1/8 ) Stereo Mini Microphone Input.

Q: 2. Can this be used to go from the XLR outputs on a mixer board to the rode wireless go 2 TX unit inputs

A: I'm sorry, but the Cable Techniques 3.5mm TRS Right Angle to Two 3-Pin XLR Male Tape Output Y-Cable Adapter that you asked about would not allow you to output from a mixer into a wireless transmitter. Most mixers will have XLR male outputs, so you will need female XLR connectors on the cable. Additionally, the Rode Wireless Go II transmitter will only accept input from a mic level source. The cable that I am linking below has the correct gendered connectors, and also has a built in attenuator to lower line level to mic, so that you can successfully send the stereo line signal into the transmitter: https://bhpho.to/3IdRNCf

Q: 3. How sturdy is the strain relief on the 1/8in connector?

A: You should find it to be very reliable cable with a good quality molded connector, we have had no claims of failure.

Q: 4. To get additional length to the cable can I add an additional cable such as another XLR cable or another 3.5mm cable? If so will it affect sound quality?

A: You would need to do a calculation based on the electrical characteristics of your cable and the length to ascertain if the loss will be noticeable. But realistically your loss should be negligible using most balanced. I suggest a star quad type cable (4 conductor, shielded individually).

Q: 5. this is for 3.5mm is for Sony or Sennheiser ?

A: The Ambient Recording 3.5mm Adapter Cable for ARRI Alexa Mini specifies compatibility with Sennheiser "ew" receiver output connections.

Q: 6. Will This work with 6D MII ?

A: Thank you for your question. This will work to connect a microphone to any DSLR with a 3.5mm mic input.

Q: 7. will it deliver phantom power that Canon 80D generates?

A: The Canon 80 D will not deliver phantom power. It offers a very low voltage known as plug-in power . Power will not be carried over this cable successfully.

Q: 8. It lists the 5DMII. Is it compatible with the 5DMIII?

A: The 5DmkII and 5D mkIII feature the same mic input jack. The Sescom cable is compatible with both cameras.

Q: 9. How long is the cable (excluding connectors)?

A: 10 Feet, reasonable with looking at the photo. The listing on Amazon provides the length.

Q: 10. I assume the device at the 1/8 end is NOT sending phantom power. So does the mic still work? With how much dB loss? Wikipedia says phantom power raises the threshold where distortion starts, ... so won't loss of phantom power make the mic more sensitive so it distorts more quickly?

A: I tried to run the XLR end from my pre-amp (with a real vocal mic plugged into it) into my computer -- and naturally it didn't work. I'm sure I'd need some sort of in-between adaptor. But I never returned the cord. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
