Designed to be attached between a compatible lens and a Nikon F-mount camera, this Vivitar 5 Elements 2x Autofocus Teleconverter doubles the magnification of the connected lens, dramatically boosting its apparent focal length with a minimal increase to the size or weight of the camera and lens combination.

Electronic communication between an attached camera and lens is supported, and inside this teleconverter, five multicoated optical elements in three groups help to ensure clarity while reducing ghosting and flare. Front and rear lens caps as well as a pouch are included for storage and transport.

A: Hi--this teleconverter will not support autofocus with the 70-300mm lens, due to the small aperture at 300mm: a 2x teleconverter decreases exposure by 2 f-stops, so the effective aperture would be f/11 or f/11 1/2 depending on the lens. A teleconverter can't autofocus at a smaller aperture than f/8. The lens would work as a manual focus lens using that teleconverter, though.

A: It will fit and shoot but you will lose autofocus as well as 2 stop of light.

Keep in mind that the Vivitar 5 Elements 2x Autofocus Teleconverter will cut two stops of light, so you will have to manually focus. Image quality will also be reduced.

2X TCs are never great, but this is as good as I've ever seen or used. While I wait the decade it's going to take to get my 800mm this is an option. 5

I haven't done extensive testing, but many online pixel peepers have and they all seem to agree there's no or almost no effect on image quality. My 70-200 is still f/5.6 with this, so that's still quite usable for what I do. You need to pay attention to the big warning diagram on the case they give you with it. Take a moment to think when installing and be sure to not stick the long protruding part into the camera. It's a very obvious thing if you're paying attention at all. It would be a disaster if you were half asleep in the dark and fumbled it in the wrong way. Good bye sensor. 5

I bought the FotodioX Autofocus 2XTeleconverter for my T3i Cannon. I have a 250mm lense and the Fotodiox allows me to double my power. I travel a lot and like how like it is and compact for travel. I have a 1300 mm telephoto lense but it weights 7 lbs and is hard to hold still. The autofocus on the Cannon doesn't work properly but I like the ability to manually focus the lens for better pictures. It meets my needs for travel. 5

Very pleased with results using the 2x teleconverter with the Z100-400mm lens on my Z7II. The OP/TECH USA 303 pouch is a better fit for this teleconverter than the 301 which is shown as an accessory. 5
