Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How is this Mark "II" version different from the original version (other than being more expensive)?

A: The updated Mark II version has better optics and coatings than the original. It has better color rendering and sharpness than the original.

Q: 2. Can I use Zeiss/Contax 16mm G lens with this adaptor?

A: Yes, if you own a Contax-G lens Zeiss/Contax 16mm G will allow you to connect your lens with a Nikon Z-mount mirrorless camera.

Q: 3. Will this adaptor fit on an Ursa Mini Pro 12k with PL Mount?

A: The KIPON Baveyes Lens Adapter for Mamiya 645 to PL Mount is meant for cameras with PL mounts. We see no reason it will not work on the URSA Mini Pro 121K with PL Mount.

Q: 4. How does it compare to the Zhongyi Mitakon Turbo lens II?

A: Unfortunately, we do not currently have a comparison. The KIPON Baveyes 0.7x Mark 2 Lens Mount Adapter is a special order item we do not keep in our inventory. We do not place an order for the lens adapter until we receive an order from a customer. There is a 2-4 week estimated arrival after purchase. We also do not have the lens adapter on display in our NYC Superstore, and I have not seen any comparisons listed online comparing the above lens mount adapter with the Mitakon Zhongyi Turbo Adapter Mark II Lens Adapter. However, do note, if you purchase the lens mount adapter and you are not happy with its performance, you have 30 days from the original purchase date to return the lens mount adapter for an exchange or a refund.

Q: 5. Will this adapter electronically close the aperture of Mamiya 645 AF lenses? I.e. for the newer lenses without an aperture ring- If I shoot with my Schneider 150 LS at F/16, will the sony body close the lens to F/16, or can I only shoot it wide open?

A: You would need this version for a 645AF lens: https://bhpho.to/3xc5L1J This adapter does not support electronic communication between an attached camera and lens. To control the amount of light that enters a Sony E-mount camera when using this adapter and a Mamiya 645 AF/AFD lens, an aperture-control ring is built into the adapter which couples with the lens's aperture mechanism so that adjustments to brightness as well as depth-of-field can be made.

Q: 6. What are compatible Fuji camera models?

A: Any Fuji X mount camera like the XT3, XT4, XT30, XE3 etc...

Q: 7. Which Contax G lenses are compatible? I think the superwides like the 21mm and 16mm would not be.

A: Kipon does not mention any restrictions about which lenses are compatible. But they cannot test all lenses either since they Contax G lenses have not been made in many years.

Q: 8. I’ve read Contax G system’s AF would always return the focus to it starting position. Is this the case with this adapter? I mean, is there a spring in the lens that returns the focus back or once this adapter is used the lens becomes a manual lens like Leica for example? Also, does it have a hard stop at infinity or one can focus past it?

A: This adapter is a manual only adapter. Focus has to be set manually.

Q: 9. Is this adapter for the Contax 645 lenses mounted on the Nikon Z?

A: This adapter is for Contax/Yashica lenses in the 35mm format to work on the Nikon Z.

Q: 10. Does this adaptor enable autofocus of the Mamiya lens (as long as the lens has autofocus capabilities of course) ?

A: No, the KIPON Baveyes Lens Mount Adapter for Mamiya 645-Mount Lens to Canon RF-Mount Camera is purely a manual adapter. There is no communication between the lens and the camera with this adapter. All aperture and focus control would need to be done manually on the lens.
