The Polsen BCPM-A2 is a compact and lightweight personal in-ear monitor amplifier that puts volume-boosting monitor control for headphones right at your fingertips. Ideal for keyboardists or drummers who stay in one spot while performing, the BCPM-A2 will deliver the audio feed you need without excessive cabling or clutter.

Designed as the active version of the Polsen BCPM-1, the BCPM-A2 is powered by two AAA batteries (available separately). The active amplifier circuitry gives you the advantage of boosting the input signal when you need extra volume in your headphones. Plus, the mono/stereo switch lets you choose the monitoring mode that matches your input source. The convenient belt clip ensures the BCPM-A2 won't be in the way while you play.

The BCPM-A2 features a combo input jack that accepts either XLR or 1/4" connectors, and the locking XLR connector guards against accidental disconnects on stage or in the studio. This road-worthy personal monitor amplifier is constructed with a durable metal chassis that can take the bumps and impacts of travel and stage performance.

The BCPM-A2 is an active device and runs on two AAA batteries. This gives the advantage of boosting the incoming signal with the active amplifier. If you need a little more level than the source is giving you, just turn up the volume.

The internal mono/stereo switch lets you select the mode that meets your needs. Select stereo when you connect to a headphone output or other stereo source. Select mono when you connect to a single-channel source such as a mono aux send from a mixer.

The volume knob / power switch is positioned at the end of the BCPM-A2 where it's easy to reach, even without looking. If you're sitting behind a keyboard or drum kit, changing the monitoring volume in your headphones is trickier than it sounds. If you can't walk over to the headphone amp or give the "more volume" sign to the sound engineer, the BCPM-A2 is for you. It puts a volume knob right at your belt, so you can dial in the perfect monitor level any time you need it.

Because monitoring is so critical to your performance, the XLR jack features a locking mechanism to prevent the connector from accidentally disconnecting—like if there's a little tug, or even if someone trips over your cable. When you're done, just press the locking tab to disconnect. Not using an XLR cable? No problem. The BCPM-A2's combo jack accepts 1/4" connectors, too.

Use your favorite studio or monitoring headphones, earbuds, or in-ear monitors. The standard stereo 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone jack accepts them all.

Thanks to the BCPM-A2's compact and lightweight design, you'll forget it's there until you need to adjust your volume. The monitor is made with a sturdy metal chassis that can take the bumps of travel and live stage performance.

A: 0.28 A at 120 VAC/60Hz

Q: 2. Is the headphone amplifier RF protected? Time ago I bought a ROLLS PM-55 and I had problems with cellular phones interferences

A: No RF issues, but I did have grounding issues with one I bought recently.

Q: 3. are these 110v?

A: Yes

Q: 4. can this be used with earbuds ?and what microfone would bee best ?

A: This can be used with earbuds. The type of mic would depend on what you are doing with it. For a live vocal performance situation, here's a general mic recommendation: B&H # SEE945.

Q: 5. Could i use these with a tv?

A: Hi Noel R,Depending on what your goal is. We have a large screen TV and we connect a laptop to the TV and then the speakers to the laptop and it raises the volume of the TV. On the back of our TV there are many outlets to connect to other things, I am guessing that one of them would connect the speakers directly to the TV. I'm not TV savvy enough to know which one. Hope this helps, Gaelin

Q: 6. So I have a Numark TTUSB Turntable with built in RCA output cords. Would these work properly for it??

A: Yes they would - plug and play.

Q: 7. phantom power?

Q: 8. Could this amp power a small, shoulder mounted portable two way radio speaker?

A: This item is a Headphone amplifier, It does not power anything, It does not work with 2 way radios.

Q: 9. I bought this a year or so ago and have been using it to use to boost the monitor level for my somewhat high-impedence headphones. I just tried the mic port for the first time. I am finding that the mic input leaks into the monitor channel even with the mic volume at zero. Raising the mic volume does raise the mic input, but also adds quite a bit of noise. And when the monitor volume is at zero, the mic channel does not sound even with the level set up high. I expected the two inputs to be independently controllable. Is there a way to accomplish this?

A: Hello. Thank you for your description of usage. This device is designed to where the Monitor level control is a master control over the overall mix output of the mic input and monitor input. The two input channels can not be separated. If needed to balance the levels of the mic and playback in your headphones, you'd have to balance the mic gain on the Polsen, and the headphone out of the Steinberg individually. As for the metronome bleed through the mix when the gain is down, the headphone out level of the metronome is a much hotter signal than the expected mic level intended for the mic input. Due to this, it is possible that the level would pass through while the gain is turned down. I would recommend revisiting the metronome built into your recording software. This can be used while recording and not actually be on your recorded tracks. By going this route, all you would need the Polsen for is to boost the level of the headphones.

Q: 10. Does stereophonic signal from the input is being amplified and delivered to the stereophonic headphones output?

A: Yes, the Polsen BCPM-A2 Active Belt Clip Personal In-Ear Monitor Amplifier is switchable for mono or stereo input signal. When set for stereo mode, a stereo input signal will be sent to the headphone output as a stereo signal. Set the mode switch accordingly based on the input signal.

Ill first start by saying that this amplifier has a nice sturdy metal build. While there are many uses for this device I am using it along side my mixer board. Sometimes I need an extra headphone out and this works well. I just took a long 1/4 cable and plugged it into one of my mono outs and then into this Polsen amplifier. Since it is a mono source you can simply move the internal switch from stereo to mono. That way you can have sound in both of your headphones. So far it works great for the way that I'm using it and its plenty loud. Just be careful when sliding the case back on as you can accidentally pinch some exposed wires that hang near the battery tray. The only thing I have not tested is how long the batteries will last as you will need batteries to operate it. This would be a great option for live performers or someone like me who just needed an extra headphone out.

Works great for my amplifier on the cello. Would recommend getting good quality headphones. Gets the job done for a really loud stage and when you really need to hear yourself.

There are a ton of expensive wireless in-ear systems out there for performers to hear themself without having to lug huge monitors around that take up stage space. But as a bass player I really didn't need a wireless system as I was tethered by my guitar chord already. I first looked at passive belt clip style wired types but settled for a battery powered active wired unit. It worked really well straight out of the box. I could select mono or stereo. It was compact and easy to use and I could boost the volume if the band got louder. But we generally found as all the members switched to in-ear units, our stage volume was noticeably quieter.
I would strongly recommend this neat and compact unit.

As lead singer for Hypnotik, an in ear system was so needed for stage volume control and we were on a tight budget. The Polsen did wonders for the band

I Purchased (4) of these for a Streaming studio project and am VERY happy with them. They are well designed and work really well. As they are active, they require batteries which we the manufacturer was thoughtful enough to include (2) AAA batteries, so they can be used right out of the box. I would definitely recommend this product.

I’m a drummer and I need something that will be audible clearly even with a loud instrument such as a drum set.

Even though, this is enough already for monitoring purposes, which is not critical as far as noise (Hissing) goes, this device happens to have NO noise, no hissing whatsoever.

If whatever source of audio you plug in, and there is hissing, humming etc, it’s your “whatever” that’s causing the issue. This unit not only has clean audio, but it’s LOUD. So loud that will satisfy anyone but will damage your ears if you’re not careful. If you want LOUD, the Polsen PMA-2B will deliver.

To use it from a mixer: simply run a pair of XLR OUT cables from the mixer to the PMA-2B. Try to keep the levels from your mixer not to exceed 0db and no EQ for the best and cleanest sound.

I also like the many ways to attach this unit. It has a belt clip, a solid 3/8 mount plus a shoe mount!
To use you iPhone as the source since it doesn’t have XLRs:

But this cable:
Stereo Male XLR to Stereo Male 1/8” TRS. (Assuming you have the Apple lighting adapter) and you’re done! And again, it’s plenty loud.

I only wish the PMA-2B had those dual purpose XLR female inputs that accepts either XLRs or Mono TS plugs (each channel) for even more versatility when XLR is not viable.

Overall, price is right, ALL METAL, good electronics, no hissing and it’s LOUD. What else could you want?

I’m pretty happy with mine.

Also, check out the images I provided on my reviews. They can be useful to you.
