Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Using D-76 to develop Tri-X 400 pushed to asa / iso 1600. How much extra time to develop film? 35mm 36ex

A: Hi Kelly, I made an error. Please use times 10.5 and 7 respectively. Sorry chuck

Q: 2. The description says D-76 is suitable for push processing. Can I use it to pull film 1 stop?

A: D-76 can be used to pull or push process film. But it is mot designed for that. So, depending on the film it might not give the best results.

Q: 3. Why isn't Tmax developer recommended for use with sheet film? I have used it to develop Tmax sheet film (using trays) in the past and have not had any discernible issues.

A: Kodak cautions against using T-Max developer with sheet film, because of the risk of dichroic fog.

Q: 4. Can this developer (D-76) be used for one time or for few rolls of film?

A: I use it in a 5 roll can then throw it out. I do use my film Fix again as paper fix if its not more than a couple of days between uses

Q: 5. What is the dilution ratio from concentrate when developing 100 Tmax and 400 Tmax? Also what is a standard development time?

A: Click the link below to view the Kodak product sheet showing dilution and dev tiems; https://imaging.kodakalaris.com/sites/uat/files/wysiwyg/pro/chemistry/j24.pdf

Q: 6. Once mixed how long does this solution last?

A: The official shelf life for Kodak Professional D-76 Film Developer in liquid form is 6 months in a closed bottle; it is usually good for a bit longer than that.

Q: 7. What is the difference between the 2019 version of D76 and previous versions?

A: There is no difference between versions just different packaging and sku #'s.

Q: 8. What is the shelf life of the D-76 in the package?I found a package that I have left since 2006)Can it be applied?

A: As long as it hasn't been stored in high heat, it should be fine. The best would be if you could mix the old envelope with a new envelope to make sure the effectiveness is best.

Q: 9. How many rolls can it develop in total?

A: The amount of rolls you can develop would depend on the film format and the size of the tank being used.

Q: 10. What’s the shelf life for the concentrate? When does it expire?

A: Each bottle has a different exp date when purchased but typically will last about 2 years in a well sealed bottle.

This was my first time developing B&W film. Product was very easy to use and worked great. My first film came out perfect. Little expensive, but like the fact that I can mix only enough working solution for the film at hand and not waste any.

My son and I have used this for developing our tmax 400 black and white film.
Easy to mix and use, great results. Good time working with film, doing it the old way.

This is my go to developer every time. I can always count on it for consistent results. I use it for tray developing 8x10 film.

I started using TMAX developer in high school, back in the late 1980's. When processing TMAX films there's nothing better. I have never cared for what it does to TRI-X or PLUS-X (I use HC-110 for those emulsions).

I don't develop frequently and therefore like this developer for its convenience as it allows me to mix one shot working solution for just the amount of volume I need, instead of having to make large volume and then throw it away if unused for a while.

I use this a lot on expired TMax 100 and 400 film, and the results are always great. Really solid developer for those films. And easy to mix since it's just a 1:4 (or 1+4) dev-to-water ratio.
