Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a Canon A590IS and would like to take closer macro photosI see you have the Canon 250D and the B+W Macro Close-up. What is the difference between these? Do I need an adapter to mount either? Can the filter be left in place when the camera is shut down? If so, is the filter exposed to damage when the camera is shut down? How does the auto-focus know that this filter is in place?

A: I am sorry that I can't help you with your question as I bought the lens as a gift.

Q: 2. Are Canon 250D and 500D Close up lenses compatible with Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro Lens?

A: Yes, the following lens offers a 52mm thread size.

Q: 3. can i use this with my m6?

A: Leica Elpro 52mm Close-Up Lens with 49 and 46mm Step-Up Rings are macro filters you can attached on your Leica M-lens front threads. You can connect the closed up filter to 46, 49, and 52mm front threads.

Q: 4. I have a Nikon lens (AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200 mm, 52 mm diameter). My daughter likes to take close-up photos, and really wants to get in close on small objects. Is this Canon 250D the best option among screw-on close-up lenses or are there better options? We're not ready for a macro lens costing many hundred $.

A: The Canon 250D close up filter is a very nice close up filter, but I dont feel it is as optimal when used on this particular type of lens. It is better when coupled with a fixed focal/prime lens and best when combined with macro lenses. For the about the same cost, we offer a product called Extension Tubes which are hollow tubes that mount between the camera and the lens, creating a shorter minimum focus distance and increased magnification of the lens. We sell a set of 3 that can be mixed and matched to achieve the effect you want. They are best when manually focused. See the link below for details on the recommendation:http://bhpho.to/18FdzXT

Q: 5. Does a third-party manufacturer make a lens hood that is compatible with the Elpro 52? Leica does not.

A: Leica Elpro 52mm Close-Up Lens with 49 and 46mm Step-Up Rings has a front thread of 52mm. You can attach a 52mm clip-on or screw-on lens hood. If you are attaching this add-on to the lens on a 35mm or wider lens please select a tulip shape lens hood to avoid vignetting.

Q: 6. Will this work on Nikon lens?

A: This will work on lenses with a 52mm-diameter front thread.

Q: 7. Who has experience with this and a Leica Q2?

A: You would need a step up ring # BWSUR4952

Q: 8. Can this item be used with a M9 that does not have a live view electronic view finder

A: You wont be able to see what you are focusing or if you focused on the subject , would not recommend it

Q: 9. Can this be used on the Leica Q to shorten the focus distance beyond 17cm?

A: The Leica Elpro 52mm Close-Up Lens will fit the Leica Q using the included step up ring. It will allow you to focus closer but since it has not been tested on the Leica Q, the exact focus distance cannot be determined.

Q: 10. Will this lens work with an EF-S24/2.8 STM lens? I know it will fit, but will it be useful?

A: In a Ken Rockwell review, (I can't link to it but you can find it when you search for your lens and 250D)he states, Canon also cautions not to use close-up lenses, since they weigh enough to mess up the focus system. You may want to use a longer focal length lens with the 250D

I bought this to use with a Canon EF 50mm 1.8 lens and it works wonderfully for macro photography. Image quality does not change with adding this lens and maintains its sharp details. Works best with manual focus and tripod but that's true with any macro lens

Cool way to get started with macro photos without spending $$$ on a macro lens...

I bought this lens to attach onto my 50mm f/1.8 lens to use for macro photos before I decide to spend money on a dedicated macro lens. I was really happy with the sharpness of the photos and how much of the frame I could fill with an object. It is threaded on the front, so you can add any filters or a threaded lens hood if you need to. If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative to buying a macro lens, this is the right choice for you.

Use this close up lens on my Canon 60mm f/2.8 EF-S Macro. Works best with 50mm to 100mm lens range. You'll love the close up pictures you will get of flowers, bugs, small stationary items. Very fun close up lens to have.

Unlike some other close-up lenses I've tried, this one really allows you to get near to your subject. Bought it after an online recommendation. Not a macro lens, but the next best thing.

I noticed no change in optical quality using it on a canonef 50mm 1.8 with superb results. For only 80 bucks you can begin a new style of photographythat would normally cost much more. make sure you read the specs to purchase the appropriate250D or 500D for your lens. Expertise: Avid photographer Problems Encountered: My product out of the box had some scuff marks on the outermetal parts. pure aesthetic, lens is fine. heavy for afilter but not really a problem. Items I Recommend: normal to short telephoto lens.

There great and much cheaper that a macro lens. I get just as good pictures as my 40mm nikon macro lens. I pack them to save space in my bag when I travel.
