Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a video port switch with hdmi input and display port or usb-c output? that converts the hdmi signal to display / usb-c?

A: The StarTech VS221HD4KA 2-Port HDMI 4K Automatic Video Switch with Fast Switching only has HDMI input and output.

Q: 2. Will this unit work with Sony format 1080/23.98Psf?

A: No, the Lumantek HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Audio Mux/Demux and Scaler does not support 1080/23.98Psf.

Q: 3. has anyone powered this unit with USB power instead of plugging it into the wall? Does it need to be plugged into the wall?

A: Hi Mark. The unit requires a 5 volt DC source at 2 amps. Any power supply of 5 volts DC with at least a 2 amp rating will power the unit. So, if you have a USB power supply of 5 volts that can supply the amp rating it should work. Please be aware of the polarity of the power supply you are using. And no, I have not tried powering the unit from a USB port or power supply, but it is a good question.

Q: 4. Can I use this device to get stereo audio output from my Panasonic TV HDMI output? I have no other way to hook the audio from my TV to my stereo system. I've tried optical DACs that say they will work but they don't.

A: The HDMI jack on the TV is very likely an input, not an output. It is intended to connect FROM a cable box, DVD player etc. TO your TV and not the other way around. Your television probably has analog audio out jacks (red and white), an optical digital output and maybe a coax digital output (orange). Your owners manual will identify the input and output jacks and they should be labeled HDMI 1 in or audio out or similar wording. The red/white should almost certainly connect your TV to the amp or better, connect one of the cable box outputs to the amp.

Q: 5. Does this work with HDMI 24p input?

A: No, it needs a HDMI 30i signal.

Q: 6. Does this unit convert/scale SDI input to SDI Output?

A: The Lumantek HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Audio Mux/Demux and Scaler is designed as a cross converter and it can perform conversion and scaling from either input to either output, as needed.

Q: 7. Does it come with the DE-9/DB-9 Input/Output connector cable?

A: Yes, the Lumantek HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Audio Mux/Demux and Scaler comes with the following cable included 9-Pin to XLR Breakout Cable. More info: https://bhpho.to/3Y4quVM

Q: 8. Will this switch allow my desktop to connect to a video projector (HDMI) and a VGA monitor to see the same images on both at the same time? I also have a VGA monitor, so these other two are for the extended screen, not my main screen.

A: I have been using this switch in one of our conference rooms for almost a year. It has worked flawlessly. Our laptops have both VGA and Displayport outputs. We use a passive cable to convert Displayport to HDMI, the HDMI then goes into the switch. If we need to use the VGA output of the laptop, we connect it to the switch. The switch does the conversion to HDMI. That way we only have to feed our monitor with HDMI. We run a single HDMI to the monitor. If you want to share the HDMI output of a laptop with an HDMI projector and an HDMI monitor, you would need to use an HDMI splitter. To use an HDMI projector, and a VGA monitor, you can use an HDMI to VGA adapter. I hope this answers your question.

Q: 9. Will this allow the 3.5mm audio input to be used when the HDMI input is selected?

A: The 3.5mm connection is for VGA audio only. The HDMI is embedded audio only.

Q: 10. I just bought this, but it's not working with a 1280x800 resolution. Any advice?

A: Jodan, I had the same problem you experiancing. I did not keep my I returned it. It was not useful to me.I wish you luck.
