Swarovski Optik presents the Z5 - a superior sighting system with outstanding optics and mechanics - and it's neatly configured into a trim 1.0" main-tube. With Its spectacular field of view, crisp edge-to-edge sharpness, and rugged field-ready construction - The Z5 is well suited for everyday hunting and world-class safaris.

The Z5 3.5-18x44 pushes the envelope - it delivers a broad magnification range, yet it's relatively light, compact, and of course - reliable. The entire scope is fully water and fogproof thanks to a meticulous nitrogen-purging process. The low-profile turrets offer ¼ MOA click-stop corrections, and the rectangular adjustment range provides a generous 58 MOA of elevation correction. The lenses have been fully multicoated to optimize light transmission, and the external lens surfaces have been treated with a scratch-resistant SWARODUR protective coating.

This Z5 is configured with a rugged 1.0" aluminum-alloy main-tube, side focus parallax correction, a matte black finish, a ballistic elevation turret, and a Plex reticle in the second focal plane.

A mounting base and rings are used to attach a riflescope to a firearm. A comfortable sight picture is contingent upon the height of the rings. A comfortable cheek-weld is the result of properly positioning the scope over the receiver. Mounting the scope close to the receiver is preferable, yet scopes with larger objectives need higher rings so the front bell can clear the barrel. It should be noted that in many mounting applications, a professional gunsmith's skills will be needed for proper installation.

  • Objective: 44 mm - provides excellent twilight performance
  • Side focus knob: adjusts parallax error from 55 m - infinity
  • SWAROTOP coatings: anti-reflective multicoating enhances light transmission
  • SWARODUR coating: protective scratch-resistant coating on external lens surfaces
  • 5x magnification range offers a wide field of view and the ability to zoom in for close-up observation

  • 1.0" Aluminum alloy main tube
  • Scratch-resistant anodized coating on exterior surfaces
  • Nitrogen purged main tube is waterproof to 13.0'/4.0 m
  • Erector assembly features a 4-point coil spring system for repeatability
  • Micro-grooves on the tube's interior minimize residual reflections for bright high-contrast viewing

  • Ballistic turret: Swarovski's ballistics program enables setting the scope's zero for three separate distances. Proper positioning of the three color-coded disks on the turret provides a quick visual confirmation of your current zero, and the ability to range out to longer distances with ease.
  • Plex reticle: four long medium weight tapered posts. The posts stand out well against dark backgrounds while fine cross hairs establish your exact point of aim. The narrow gate of this reticle isolates your point of aim quickly to ensure rapid target acquisition.
  • Second focal plane positioning of the reticle maintains the reticle's size across the magnification range.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello. Does it fit well using a FTZ II adapter (I know an accessory is requested for FTZ) thanks in advance

A: Yes, the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II will accommodate the Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter.

Q: 2. This may go without saying, but are the holes on the bottom compatible with 1/4" screw for Tripods?

A: Yes, the base of the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II has both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting points.

Q: 3. Hello! Do we know whether a Z6iii could still fit in this?

A: As the Nikon Z6 III Mirrorless Camera with dimensions 5.5 x 4 x 2.9" / 138.5 x 101.5 x 74mm is slightly larger than the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with dimensions 5.3 x 4 x 2.7" / 134 x 100.5 x 69.5mm, the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II would not fit on the Z6 III. A compatible cage would be the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z6 III, BH #SM4519.

Q: 4. Will mounting an external microphone to the top of the smallrig cage (as opposed to mounting a microphone directly in the camera's hotshoe) decrease the amount of audible G-lens autofocusing noise picked up by the microphone when filming with older G-lenses?

A: While we are not aware of any specific testing on this it can only help. You still may hear it, but what you are hearing is a vibration coming through the camera body, a cage could help minimize that.

Q: 5. Can this be installed on a tripod/ball-head with Arca style plate?

A: Yes. Unit will need to be attached via arca style plate.

Q: 6. Would this work with a Nikon D7500? If not, which Small Rig product would work best?

A: Unfortunately, The Smallrig cage will not work with the Nikon D7500. We suggest looking at universal cages for your camera model. Universal cages - https://bhpho.to/3PZkZji

Q: 7. Does the bottom have Arca Swiss Dovetail built in?

A: Yes, the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II offers an Arca-type plate on the underside.

Q: 8. Can the cage be dis-assembled to form an L-bracket?

A: The Falcam Quick Release Camera Cage for Nikon does not disassemble to form an L-Bracket solution. However there are mounting points on the side of the cage for vertical mounting. See this image - https://bit.ly/3XBfuMa

Q: 9. Does this fit the DJI RS3 mini?

A: The SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II will fit onto the DJI RS3 mini. It will be important to ensure the payload weight is kept down, because of the RS3 Mini's 4.4lb payload.

Q: 10. On any of the following models: SmallRig 2824 SmallRig 2926 SmallRig 2972 Would you most recommend the Nikon Z6 II camera?

A: Due to their almost identical functionality, I would recommend the SM2926. It will likely have only a subtle difference compared to the other two but is a slightly more recent model due to Smallrig labeling it as compatible with the Gen-II models.

This is my second Viper riflescope. Why? Because I was so impressed with the first that I am changing every single one of my hunting rigs to Vortex. They are well-built, surprisingly light given the features and have wonderful clarity. It takes a minute for a beginner to highly adjustable scopes like the Viper to understand the value, but once you do you will appreciate a whole new aspect to your shooting game. The zero-stop feature makes it so simple to get back to zero, no thinking required!

I have two of these one on a Ruger Magnum .300 Win Mag and the other on a Browning xbolt 7MM and I love them. Clean glass and good for the average medium distance hunter. Very rugged and can withstand the harshness that comes with western hunting.

Scope arrived safely and promptly. I purchased a vortex mount which worked well on my AR10. Trip to the range to sight in gave me an idea of how well this scope will serve me. The glass is crisp from edge to edge throughout the magnification range of the scope. Adjustments were made for a 100 yard zero. Turrets are easy to adjust with audible clicks. Repeatability was achieved with no drama and scope held zero. I couldn’t be happier. Will put through some punishment (cold temps and getting bumped around I’m sure) this winter sniping coyotes in northern Wisconsin. I don’t anticipate any issues. I’ll update with any problems I encounter.

The Viper was the first scope I bought when looking to get into some mid to long range shooting. The features are what we're very appealing. The mildot reticle combined with a side mounted parallax and zero turn covered turrets make it a very user friendly optic and great for those beginning to learn the ins and outs of precision shooting. The only con I can think of that ended up being a favorite feature of mine was the mildot reticle being in standard milrads combined with turrets in MOA make hold overs more trouble than they are worth typically. However as a range finder it was extremely beneficial to have both systems as it helped me learn the difference between the two and how to convert from MRAD to MOA and vice versa. I shoot quite often with this scope at mid range(300 to 600 yds) and it makes the experience very easy. One of my favorite scopes in my collection and the one I credit the most with the knowledge and experience I've gained. I wouldn't trade it for anything. With all that said the construction is amazing. It's been on everything from bolt action 308s, to an M1A; which are notorious for destroying scopes, to a 300 Win Mag and has preformed excellently on all platforms. Best general use mid range scope on the market in my opinion.
