Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this utilize an XLR port to connect?

A: No, the Senal SMH-500 have a 1/4" TRS connector.

Q: 2. Is this just one pad or does it come as a pair?

A: A quantity of (2) Pioneer DJ Leather Earpads are included in the packaging.

Q: 3. How does this compare to Denon DP-450USB? Trying to decide between the two on B&H site. Thanks

A: Although the Denon is the prettier, more attractive looking TT, the Audio-Technica is the far better value and more robustly built unit. The included cartridge is superior as well.

Q: 4. Just bought this turntable. My question is: What is the sub weight for? I haven't attached it to the counterweight yet. Please explain in detail as the manual didn't do a great job. Thanks.

A: After installing the cartridge and headshell on the tonearm it will need to be balanced with the counterweight. With the tonearm off the rest about an inch or 2 over the platter you will need to adjust the counterweight until the arm is floating parallel with the platter. For most cartridges this should only take a few turns forward on the weight. For heavier cartridges, you will find that the counterweight is unable to balance your tonearm. You can offset the weight of a heavy cartridge by installing the sub-weight on the rear of the tonearm, and follow the balancing procedure again.

Q: 5. Question about checking/adjusting the speed using the strobe dots: On the consumer model AT-LP120XUSB it shows that three of the four rows of platter dots correspond to 33, 45, and 78 speeds which seems straightforward. On this model the markings seem to say that the rows of dots instead correspond to relative speed percentages (from the image it looks like +7.2, +3.3, 0, and -3.3%). How do you know which rows of platter dots to use to calibrate to 33, 45, and 78 rpm? Thank you.

A: The Audio-Technica Consumer AT-LP140XP Direct Drive Professional DJ Turntable has two buttons on the left for selecting 33, 45, or 78 RPM (press both together for 78 RPM). The dots next to the numbers for the speed percentages are different sizes. "0" is the indicator for normal speed and it correlates with the largest dot in the strobe display, so if you want the speed to be normal, and not faster or slower, that is the strobe dot to look at when you are calibrating the speed. The "Quartz" button next to the tone arm turns the pitch function on and off. There are tempo range buttons on the right corner along with a pitch control slider switch to adjust the speed, and a selection indicator that lights up blue for standard or locked RPM settings. The stroboscopic lights around the platter work just like a strobe tuner for musical instruments to give you a visual indication of the platter speed. The dots will look like they have stopped moving when the platter is turning at the rated speed, and they will look like they are moving to the left if the platter is turning too fast, and they will look like they are moving to the right, if the platter is turning too slowly. You can find more information about checking and adjusting the pitch controls on page 11 of the user manual: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/642204.pdf

Q: 6. Is this machine loud? Can it be used without plugging it in... run on batteries?

A: This snow machine can not be used with battery power, as it does draw quite a bit of current. It uses a PowerCon connector for power. It is not very loud, but there is a pretty powerful fan in it that does make some noise.

Q: 7. Are these ( AKG K271 Mk2 ) made in Austria ( or China )?

A: Made in China.

Q: 8. Will this wire work on Bose QuiteComfort 35 ii Headphones?

A: Yes, using the included 1/4" to 3.5mm screw-type adapter with the Pioneer DJ Coiled Cable for HRM-7, HRM-6 & HRM-5 Headphones (3.9'), the Bose QuietComfort 35 Series II Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones (Black) will work.

Q: 9. Hello There! Does this AT-LP140XP turntable have a built in phono pre-amp?

A: This turntable does not have a phono pre-amp, so if you require connecting to active speakers, i would suggest the Rolls VP29 Phono Preamp, BH #ROVP29.

Q: 10. Can you recommend a cartridge for this turntable?

A: For home use: The Shure M97XE is a highly sensitive turntable cartridge designed to produce audio with extreme accuracy and detail. The MX97E provides long term listening without ear fatigue by reproducing high frequencies and low passages with extreme accuracy and without distortion and noise. I'm very pleased with these as a replacement for the bare-bones cans that shipped with my Zoom podcasting kit. They are well-built and comfortable, and they sound *fantastic*. I love that the cable is replaceable, and that they provide a replacement set of ear pads in the box.

And at a significant discount relative to the new model, I think they are a great bargain.

The Polsen DJH-2500 are great headphones and their competitive price point only sweetens the deal. I used these for DJ'ing at a small house party and they were everything I needed. The dual inputs feature is clutch for simultaneous monitoring. I like the bass response and the 10' cable kept me feeling free. These provide strong sound without spending big bucks.

I received this product in exchange for my honest review.

Good on B&H for offering this at such a low price. I recommend also purchasing the HPA straight cable if you use it at a distance.

Yes, they clamp a little on the ears, but this is audiophile quality. I've owned ATH-5000X, ATH-MSR7, Sony XM4, Shure 940 and the 840 virtually as good as those. You'd have to be a real audiophile (not just an obsessive music listener) to tell much difference. With these headphones the veil is lifted just enough to be pro quality.

They are NOT very comfortable. If the 5000X was murder to my head and ears, the 940 murder to my head, and the MSR7 clamping too much, these do have a little clamp. (XM4 is perfect but sound is veiled.) They will start to fatigue you after half an hour. But so will most headphones on the audiophile level. You gotta deal with it or maybe replace the earpads. The headband is fine.

I attended Head Fi earlier this year so I have more hands-on experience with headphones than maybe 95% of the audio comm. My first pair fell apart after 8 years. I will probably stick with these for life and possibly replace the earpads.

There are headphones designed for audiophiles, for home / studio use, and there are headphones designed for monitoring. The DJH-2500 is ideal for monitoring.

The Polsen DJH-2500 Headphones were designed to have the mid range more accentuated on purpose, giving you more ease of listening in what you are hearing / mixing / creating in a live wedding reception, noisy streets, music fests, or similar situations where there’s too much noise and loud music.
I’m not a DJ, but my needs are identically similar. I’m a filmmaker / videographer including weddings ,corporate video and dance recitals.

So, I use the Polsen DJH-2500 in my camera’s headphone jack. The DJH-2500 allows me to listen to critical audio without having to up the volume all the way because of the accented mid range and the way the ear cups help block sound. The ear cups are comfortable enough for a whole day of use at a venue.

If you are the type of listener who likes “Mega Bass” or excessive bass, this is not the headphone for that and you’re going to pay a lot more for it . And for the uneducated listener, too much bass is not ideal either, as it overpowers the mid and high frequencies, especially when using it for monitoring.

To my taste, however, I wish the DJH-2500 had a bit more highs though…I like more treble.

Other than that, it’s a very useful and a nice pair of headphones.

I also like the dual input feature which is nice. If needed, you can hear two input sources at the same time, one source on each ear. Again, for DJs, musicians and videographer, we use that feature.

For headphone hygiene, don’t forget to check out this item: it’s a MUST! I use it on every headphone I own: Auray Disposable Over-Ear Headphone Covers (50 Pairs, Black or white). https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1585973-REG

I purchased the headphone for the fantastic fit/comfort and sound. I am using them with my vintage Sansui 9090 receiver. The headphones are simply just what I needed and I fully recommend them.

I've owned expensive DJ headphones in the past and also your typical Beats and Bose type products. For under $25, you cant go wrong with these BDJ 1000. There isn't any added bass and what you hear is what you get. The foam on the earpieces are durable yet soft. The build quality is nice and the design is simple and elegant. The ear pieces swivel and is perfect when you are mixing. I use these for gaming and video recording as well.
