Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the load rating of this stand?

A: Your answer is found in the specs section of this listing - 26.46 lb (12 kg)

Q: 2. Can the Avenger A4039CS stand attach any caster wheels?

A: Yes Greg it does!

Q: 3. Does anyone know the maximum load for the boom arm at minimum extension? I'm trying to decide between this stand and the Kupo Junior Boom, which can support 66 lbs vertically and in the minimum boom position. I ask cause I'll be using it with my Aputure 300x which is 25 lbs + any light modifiers.

A: The max load when the boom arm is extended is 17.6 lbs.

Q: 4. Can I get an instruction manual for this stand?

A: The manufacturer does not have a manual for this stand.

Q: 5. Does anyone out there have more details about the specs of the boom arm, and boom function of this stand? There is not much on B&H here, or the Avenger manufacturer site. Anyone have photos of the boom extended? Experiences with various lights and modifiers on the boom arm of this stand? Also: anyone have first hand experience with both this stand and the Avenger A4041B boom stand? How do these stands compare outside what I can compare on the spec sheets. Thanks for your help!

A: These are both very good boom/stand combo kits. The Avenger A40441B, a href= http://bhpho.to/Nfg4vn target= _blank http://bhpho.to/Nfg4vn/a is a bit stronger and taller. The specifications listed under that tab for both are really all boom equipment have. The A40441B can support at the most 33lbs not extended and fully extended up to 22 lbs.The A4039CS can support up to 26 lbs at most extensions and it is smoother to use and in chrome is visually niceUsing both they really are similar. The A40441B does come with a counter weight which you should use. And the A4039CS does not so that is an added item to get.

Q: 6. How long is the boom arm at full extension?

A: About 6' but the payload will affect its ability to counterbalance and support the weight. You might not be able to use its full range in all situations.

Q: 7. Would the Avenger D600 boom arm be a good match with this stand in terms of weight-size ratios of both items?

A: Yes the Avenger D600 Mini Boom would be an excellent match to this Avenger stand in terms of weight capacity and portability.

Q: 8. Can anyone recommend a carrying case for this stand?

A: The Arriba Cases AC185 Lighting Truss Rolling Bag B&H # ARAC185 would be suitable to hold the Avenger A4050CS. Please see the image below for reference.

Q: 9. Is the load rating the same for the A4039CS in stand mode as it is in boom mode? I would like to know how much load can be suspended from the boom arm, with an appropriate counterweight, of course.

A: According to Avenger, this stand can hold a maximum of 6 lbs with the boom position at its full extension.

Q: 10. The maximum extension is 105 (according to a Q&A response)--but don't you have to back it down about 18 to 24 for a counterbalance? I only need to put about 7 or 8 pounds on the end. Can it hold that without a counterbalance at full extension? How much weight can it take at full extension without a counterbalance?

A: The maximum extension is 105 with the pushed forward completely and the top riser extended on it. You would only need about 18 at the end to clamp on a counterweight, which should be used even if the light being placed on it is only 8 lbs for safety.

I struggled with another brand--which is known for making good equipment--but I always had to watch how much weight I put on, and the height was very limited when using the boom.  The Avenger is many levels up from there and is SO solid.  It will put a light about 6 from the center post, about 12 in the air, leaving a short length for a counterbalance.  You should seriously consider getting the wheels, which are also heavy duty.  I HIGHLY recommend the set up.  I feel I can do so much more now, and that my lighting is not limited by the equipment.

This is a great piece of equipment. This thing is big, heavy, and just what you want to know your gear is secure. I wasnt sure about this after reading some reviews about the ergonomics of the handle when adjusting the boom but I didnt have any issues adjusting the position myself and found it to be very straightforward once you see how it works. I would highly recommend this boom stand.

I should have bought more! I wanted to try one to see what it was about and I'm extremely impressed. This is the one light stand to rule them all. Seriously, it has the build quality of a tank. Every knob and adjustment take effort and once it's locked down, it's not going anywhere. Heavy duty is an understatement. If you aren't strong you won't be able to move this once a light is mounted. It's beefy for sure. However, if you need a light stand that will be passed down to your children's children, this is the one. It's that good. I will be ordering more soon. Don't wait, get it today!

I am SO pleased with this stand!! After hunting around for the perfect all in one heavy duty stand I finally landed on this one. Boy am I glad that I did! It seems like Avenger read everyone’s reviews and made changes to their combo stand based on the feedback! The missing baby pin? Now it’s included by in the junior head! The awkward boom handle? Fixed! I am blown away by how ergonomic and well built this piece of metal is! I can’t wait to use this on shoots! If you need an all around beast to hold your heavy lights and equipment I wouldn’t recommend anything else! As my first combo/heavy grip equipment this will last me for years to come!

I use this primarily as a boom for softboxes

This is my first Avenger and I'm happy with this purchase. I was debating between this one and A4050CS. Most of the time I'll be handling it alone and I think I made right decision. Although heavy, one person can do it all without any problem. Avenger E700 Baby Drop Down Pin is a must have accessory (I don't even think of it as an accessory rather a missing part). I'm using it with 47 octa and with counterweight, it's very stable. Overall I think it's worth every cent.

The A4039CS is solidly built, and locks well into place. I used it to boom an Einstein 640 with a 2' x 2' soft box.

Great stand, very heavy duty, should last a lifetime. I was looking for a boom stand that was strong enough to hold elinchrom 500 light with beauty dish or medium softbox, but not so heavy I wont take it on location. B&H recommended the a4039cs. This fit the bill just right. love the adjustable leg for uneven ground.

Love this stand. use it as a boom or as a normal heavy duty stand. I use this for hanging a large octobox on a b1600 Alien bee head up to 13' high. I had tried the bogen/manfrotto booms (not the super boom but the smaller one)and they wouldn't go high enough and were just not sturdy enough to safely support that heavy box and head. This stand does it with no problem. It is big and *heavy* and my studio space is not huge but for a light I don't move much it is perfect. I got it with the a900N wheel set easy movement and E700 drop-down pin that give extra room for angling the light source.
