Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a Nikon D3100. Will this microphone work for my camera?

A: My D3100 does not have an input jack. I believe that option came later, so you can not use this for that model.

Q: 2. The mount is positioned sideways when attached to the camera hot shoe. How can the mic be rotated so that it faces forward?

A: Hold the microphone head and body firmly while gently twisting the shoe portion into position.

Q: 3. Is this mic compatible with the Nikon D3200?

A: It's compatible with all Nikon models that have a stereo audio input. The unit works great with my D800. If the D3200 has an audio input you should have no problem.

Q: 4. Can the ME-1 be used on a Nikon D810 when the built in camera flash is being used in the commander mode for off camera flash control?

A: DONT KNOW I USE ONLY D7100 NIKON CAMERA

Q: 5. I was wondering if this microphone is compatible with the Nikon D500 camera? And how's the performance of this microphone? I did read the reviews on this microphone but I thought that I would like to get some new reviews on this microphone. Thank You!

A: I have the Nikon D5300 and it is compatible. I mainly use it for taping Vlogs and it works very well. Much better audio quality than camera alone. It will pick-up some extraneous noise, but it is limited. I found it worth the investment.

Q: 6. Is this mic compatible with Nikon 1 S1?

A: I would say 99.99% yes. Does the Nikon 1 S1 has a stereo pin jack, that is so ubiquitous among the electronic today? I would call Nikon on their 800 number just to double check, the call is on Nikon's dime so it won't cost you anything. The mic will probably work on any other equipment beside Nikon camera equipment if they have this jack.

Q: 7. Is this mic compatible with Nikon D90?

A: Unfortunately, the ME-1 Stereo Microphone is not compatible with the Nikon D90 as the D90 does not have an external mic input.

Q: 8. is the mount required in order to use this microphone for the nikon D5300?

A: It is a standard Nikon standard shoe mount. No special mount needed. You just slide it into your hot shoe on your Nikon camera and connect the 3.5mm mini-plug to your Nikon camera or Canon(I haven't tried it) etc, but if you have a flash, etc you must either remove it or get a bracket so that you can mount both your flash and mic at the sometime. It works great on my Nikon D5200. But remember if you use Nikon TTL-flash, your flash will need to communicate to the camera through the shoe mount. The mic does not communicate any other info to the camera than the miniplug. The mic will also work on other brands of cameras, camcorders, computers etc, equipped with a 3.5mm mini plug/jack which is most. The 3.5 miniplug/jack is pretty common in electronics today. It generates enough signal strength so it need no batteries. Ron

Q: 9. Can this microphone connect withOUT an adapter to my D610 or my D500?

A: This mic can connect directly to any camera with a 3.5mm external mic input, such as the Nikon D610 or the Nikon D500.

Q: 10. how does the ME 1 mic perform for ambient sounds, ocean surf, waterfalls, etc.?

A: Hi mark the me 1 capture all the sounds perfectly of course if you have to many spunds at the same time it my capture all and maybe your sound can hear perfectly because of the other sounds but we use these mic for weddings and interviewing the bride and the groom you can see our facebook tdcstudio and we update with some videos the interviews on informal or in our youtube channel tdcstudio1 in the informal s videos th3 interviews are with the mic

The Olympus ME-52 noise-cancelling microphone has several unique features that make it attractive to our particular needs. I am the operations manager of the journalism dept. at a small Christian university, and we have recently upgraded to the BlackMagic Design Pocket Cinema cameras for recording interviews for our weekly student-run newscasts. The BMD cameras have an external mic jack, and I needed an external lapel mic that records with good audio level and quality, reject wind and other noises, and preferably does not require a battery that may die or (worse) leak. The ME-52 detaches from its short 3.5mm cable connector, and I combine it with a Rode 10 ft extension cable. This allows me to put the lapel mic, wind screen, and swiveling lapel clip in a small case, which in turn goes in the BMD case. I keep the Rode extension cable in a separate compartment in the BMD case. The swiveling mic clip is an added bonus: it quickly adapts for male or female shirt lapels, and can be switched easily without detaching for either side of a jacket. Detaching the mic from the cable also aids in routing the cable through clothing. For our purposes, this mic and accessories as such is almost perfect, and the results are excellent (especially for the price).

The microphone is easy to setup, it took about 30 seconds. The sound quality is a big improvement over the camera's built in microphone. It is light weight and works flawlessly. I recommend it.

Great compact and small. Have not done a sound curve yet, but has been exactly what I need.

Works great on the Red Epic. This is especially important because the Red Epic is not wired for just any 1/8 microphone jack. The ME-52W can be left in the Red Epic for scratch or moved away from the noisy fans with the extension cable.

The Nikon ME-1 works great with strong stereo sound and low background noise. I have only used it a couple of times so far; once in a studio and once on location for disaster relief involving chainsaws and noisy power equipment. The tree cracking sounded awesome! The best thing I like about it is no batteries. The mini-jack powers the mike. I had the Azden, but that has switches all over it and the power switch failed. No switches on the Nikon. Works great with the D850.

I interview people at industrial construction sites, that are so loud I can barely hear what people are saying. When I play back the interviews I can hear almost exactly what they are saying, clearly and wiht minimum noise. Of coures, I mike them carefully, putting the mike right below their mouth. Amazing for the price. You need a olympus recorder that is compatiable, to power the mike. sound is great for transcribing, thin for broadcast. I had one break after 5 years, but for $, can't complain, new one was defective and B and H replaced it immediately, and replacement works great. Incredible for the price.

I purchased this microphone to replace one in a personal amplifier for a hard-of-hearing relative. I like that is cancels out the extraneous sounds and really only picks up sounds in front of the mic. Nice product.

This mic is the perfect size for the Nikon Z6 camera. And the best part is that it doesn't need a separate battery. Great sound quality too.
