A: The blue paper guide moves back and forth, and you would just place the paper underneath the guide. There are no clamps to secure this piece down, however you won't need one.

A: This has a no touch blade, on the side of the cutter the part that you push up and down to cut paper there is a lever that you turn, the blade comes of in it's cartridge and you replace it with a new cartridge and you never have to touch it. The cartridge # is G-01 for straight blade and G-02 for perforating blade.

I upgraded from a different brand. This Carl is more accurate due to having a clamp to hold down paper. It cuts cardboard and mat board. Because it's a roller blade, it won't distort like a guillotine type cutter. It doesn't cut real book board like Davey board. I'm very happy with my purchase. 5

I use it in my dark room. I had the older model which I liked, but it was hard to see under the safe-lite. I now use the old one in another part of the house for day-lite uses. The new one is clean cutting, cuts almost anything I put in it and I can see it under dim safe lights. I'd buy it again in a heart beat. 5

I replaced my old $50 rotary trimmer with this one and it's easily the best purchase I've made all year. The magnetic guide and lock mechanism are game changers. The fact that it's made from recycled materials and has a lifetime warranty are icing. I spent a lot of time researching beforehand, and nothing else even comes close. I mostly use it to cut cardstock and watercolor paper, and it's had no issues at all. Extremely easy to get precise cuts. 5
