The HellFighter 4 with Infrared Filter from SureFire is a high-intensity discharge (HID) arc lamp that delivers a perfectly focused 3,000 lumen beam. This blinding tunnel of light is capable of reaching out hundreds of yards into the night, cutting a swath of visibility into what would otherwise be an impenetrable cloak of darkness.

The HellFighter is designed to mount onto a .50 caliber machine gun or a Minigun. The versatile design of this powerhouse illumination tool also works for vehicle mounting, or hand-held operation.

The most significant difference between the HF1 and this HF4 model is an integral rechargeable battery that can run the HellFiighter 4 for 30 minutes at maximum output. This addition means that there are now three power source options with the HellFighter 4, including vehicle power outlets, disposable BA-5590 batteries (not included), and the integral rechargeable battery.

Another feature of the HF4 is the dual-output and strobe capability. The operator can now select between high-output 3,000 lumens, low-output 1,000 lumens, or strobe mode at approximately 9 flashes per second at 9Hz.

Two switching options are available for enhanced operational functionality: a click-on / off switch provides momentary and constant-on activation when using the HF4 as a handheld searchlight. It also serves as a backup switch should the switch cable assembly fail.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many stops of light do you loose with this filter?

A: I don't have the exact figures with me here, but on a bright full-sun day my exposures using a Canon 5D MKIV and Canon 70-200 2.8 IS was 30 seconds @ f/2.8, 200 ISO. Hope that helps!

Q: 2. Can you use this if your camera's internal sensor has already had an IR conversion?

A: Hi Bill-It did not work for my Canon 7D. It seems one needs different kind of camera or make a permanent conversion of the camera body to disable the built in capability of IR conversion. Subrata

Q: 3. is this work with Nikon D7100 ?

A: It will work with any digital camera, however, you are most likely looking at a 20-30 second exposure at ISO200. This filter on a film camera with ISO 400 film is rated at 8-12 ISO so you will have to compensate accordingly. Also, all composition must be done prior to putting the filter on the lens as you will not be able to see once it is in place.

Q: 4. I recently purchased a Nikon D7100. What kind of results, if any, can I expect if I put one of these filters on it?

A: You may not get the expected results! Most cameras would not give you the effect unless you convert the camera, which will be permanent and expensive too! There are some old models which do not have built in ir cancellation mechanisms. Those are the ones which can generate ir effects.

Q: 5. Hello, can I use this filter with my Canon EOS Rebel T5i?

A: there are some youtube videos on testing your sensory if it is responsive to IR by using a home device remote controller; a difficult lens to use as is very dense to light and hard to focus well; so far, my results are disappointing; good luck

Q: 6. how many stops of light should we compensate for with this filter?

A: We should compensate about 5-6 stops of light with the Hoya 62mm R72 Infrared Filter.

Q: 7. will this work on sony alpha cameras? i heard you need to modify the camera in order for this to work? I have a7s and a6500

A: The filter works perfectly without any changes to the camera, do you need to do some post processing and you can check on YouTube. I highly recommend the filter

Q: 8. Will this filter work with a Canon 5D Mark II and a Fuji XT-3?

A: Neither the Canon EOS 5D Mark II nor the FUJIFILM X-T4 Mirrorless Camera have a specified spectral sensitivity from the manufacturer. That being said, this can be used with either camera, though you will need to use longer exposure times. For better IR sensitivity you would need to have the camera sensors modified. In terms of fitting on a lens, this will depend on the specific lens you are using.

Q: 9. will it work with a Pentax 645D?

A: mmmmI' don't think soThat camera is too new.The IR filters works better with older digital cameras like the Nikon D50, D70 and D80, D100 (2001 - 2006)

Q: 10. Will it leave some soft color? Or will it always look B&W? Or, was the sample image converted to B&W?Thanks,MJ

A: That filter only lets the infrared spectrum of light to come through and hit the sensor. And IR light is Red. So you can convert it to black and white or change the white color balance to achieve different IR color effects. You can do all this in post with programs like Photoshop or Lightroom.

Purchased this type of filter to get back into IR photography. You will find that this filter is the one for your digital camera. Just remember, you will have to experiment to get the correct exposures. You will get some really bad pics or some really fantastic good ones.

Does what it says, I use it on my Fujifilm XT2 with Fujifilm 35mm F2. Had to buy a step up ring but works perfect. I bought this with rewards points that I got from BH for buying the XT2 from them. Great camera, great lens, great company. It gave an old man another reason to get out and take photos.

Great IR filter. Used with Ilford SFX 200 and got some really good results. It was, unfortunately, cloudy (and has been), but even with the clouds blocking some IR light, the image still retained the great IR looks.
