If you own an EOS-M you either already have this lens or ought to. The 22mm focal length, equivalent to a 35mm on a full frame camera, and f/2 maximum aperture makes this a very versatile lens. My EOS-M does backup and 2nd or 3rd camera duty on video shoots where the STM focus on this lens is quiet, quick, precise and very useful during either full-time auto focus or touch-screen focus racking. Optical performance is very good, not the sharpest lens I own, but plenty good enough for any task I've given it. 5

I got this lens with an EOS M kit, but am reviewing it separately from the camera. In short, this lens is superb! The lens is compact and solidly built. It's nicely sharp in the center even wide open. Vignetting is quite heavy at f/2, but I rather like it that way. Stopping down reduces vignetting quickly and the center is very sharp by f/2.8 with sharp borders, while the far corners are sharp by f/4. Bokeh is very nice (in the limited quantities the focal length and aperture afford). AF speed isn't great, but I think that's as much or more a matter of the EOS M camera than the lens. Most of my shooting has been indoors, but I've had no issues with flare, using it without a hood or filter. I shoot in raw and have Lightroom automatically correct CA, and haven't noticed any significant residual CA. Distortion is well controlled. It focuses quite close, which is very handy. Overall, this lens is very well behaved: there's nothing much to watch out for and it produces lovely images. Now it just needs a camera body as good as it is to mount it on! 5

I would highly recommend this lens as the first upgrade from the kit lens. Autofocus is a tad slower than the EF-M 15-45mm, however, and the lack of an image stabilizer is a bit of a bummer but the image quality and the compact size more than makes up for any cons. 5

Great little lens. Fast focus, sharp and bright. Nice and compact. At a FF equivalent of a 35mm , its a great walk-around combo. A must-have for the M50. 5

I added this lens to the 15-45mm kit lens. Like many small primes, there is no vibration reduction, but the lens really improves my cameras performance in low light. 5

Really like this lens. Takes notably better photos than the standard 15-45 lens that comes with most of the EF-M cameras. Put this on my girlfriends M100 and she really likes it. Highly recommend for such an inexpensive lens. 5

Due to its small size as a "pancake" lens, I keep it on all the time since it's small. I end up moving closer to the subject if needed, so I don't miss the zoom as much as I thought. It's fast, so I get good background blurring. 5
