Oben Ba-113 Single Lever Ball Head

Oben Ba-113 Single Lever Ball Head

$179.85 $275.17

The BA-113 Single Lever Ball Head from Oben is a simple ball head with one locking knob to control all motion. The knob allows you to unlock the ball so that you can quickly orient your camera properly, retighten the knob, and return to shooting. This enables fast setup changes, and frees you to keep a finger on the trigger while you're making a quick adjustment to the head's orientation. The head has a 90° notch which facilitates shooting in portrait orientation. One bull's eye and three tubular bubble levels ensure your camera is level on both the horizontal and vertical axes.

The included quick-release plate has a retractable video pin, and attaches to your camera via its standard 1/4"-20 screw. With your camera attached to the quick-release plate, it easily snaps and locks into place on the ball head, and a safety lock on the release lever prevents it from being accidentally released.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this ball head work with the Oben AC-1441 tripod without any issues?

A: I do not have any experience with the Oben tripod, but I do use it on 2 Gitzo tripods without any problems. I find that the ball head is stable as long as the weight does not exceed 5 lbs.

Q: 2. Can I change the pan head out for this on my Oben AG 1451 tripod?????

A: As long as the pan head you purchase has a 3/8"-16 female tripod socket on the base of the pan head, yes, it would be compatible for use with the Oben AC-1451 4-Section Aluminum Tripod.

Q: 3. Is there any way to buy just the plate that goes in the ball head. It would be nice to have at least two so I don't have to keep switching the plate from my body to my tele-lens.

A: This will be the plate that you need:Oben RP-20 Quick Release PlateB&H # OBRP20 Mfr # RP-20

Q: 4. When you release the lever is it gradual? As in, can you release the lever partially so that the ball still has some grip? Or when you release the lever is the ball totally loose right away? I want some friction when I release the ball - not for it to become totally loose right away.

A: This is a very simple, entry level ball head. Thus it does not have a tension adjust for the ball head. So when the lever is released, the have your hand on the camera so it does not fall.

Q: 5. I have a AC 1451 tripod with a pd 117 pan head Which I want to replace with a BA 113 ball head , but the tube on the tri pod post is 1/2 in threads not 3/8, what do i need to make the switch?????

A: The AC 1451 has a 1/420 and a 3/8 stud. You can attach the BA 113 directly.

Q: 6. Can this ball head (or any other ball head) be installed on Oben monopod ACM1400 / 2400 rather than using the monopod head VH-R2?

A: Yes, you can use virtually any head on the Oben ACM1400, as there are both 1/4 -20 and 3/8 -16 threads.

Q: 7. Will this product work on a slider?

A: I do not know, I am not using slider

Q: 8. What is the diameter of the base? I want a 6cm base.

A: The base of this head is 5cm. Go with the BA-126, that has a 5.8cm base. Click on the link to view; https://bhpho.to/2vvx2RX

Q: 9. would you recommend this ball head to fit the Manfrotto 681B Heavy Duty Pro Monopod, and does it need an adapator. I will be using it to hold a canon 5d mark III and 70-200mm 2.8 L

A: The Oben BA-111 has a load capacity of 11 pounds and a 3/8 -16 thread size, which will make it compatible with the Manfrotto 681B. You will not need an adapter, and the weight of your camera/lens combination will be supported.

Q: 10. Can I use this with a Platypod Max?

A: Yes, the Oben BA-111 Single Lever Ball Head is compatible on the Platypod Max Camera Support.

I have a oben monopod and tripod. I like the idea that you can interchange between the 2. This is good for 360 degree shots

I bought this to replace the pan head on my Sunpak 6600DX. The tripod works fine but the head would not provide adequate support for my Nikon D610, especially with the Tamron 150-600 lens. The BA-113 provides all the support that I need. The single lever took almost no time to get used to and is very responsive for those quick adjustments needed for wildlife photography.

Ideal for usage with a monopod for travel. Has a quick release mechanism to attach the camera. Feels very solid and reliable.

At first I didn’t find a nut to fit my monopod, but it was included in the package and was just sitting in a dedicated little bag.

This is a big improvement over the pistol head I was using. Much sturdier. I like the one-knob locking method, although I'm still getting used to finding the knob, as it's a little small. Holds my medium format camera with a fairly heavy lens with no problem. A good buy for those of us who do not need a head with precise click adjustments.

With a 44mm ball sphere and a true weight load rating of 12kg, it is a solid, quality, good brand name product.

This ball head functions exactly as advertised. Very high quality material with a satisfying click of the release plate. I mounted it on two of my tripods with no issues. The locking lever firmly holds even the heaviest of DSLR's in place. Highly recommended!

I have two others for different purposes. It not only allows you different angles but locks itself in your prescribe setting. It is simple and trustworthy to handle any dependable DSLR.

Beefy, nicely finished, easy to use. This one is meant for a heavy load and would be best fit to a similarly hefty tripod. Typical of Oben ballheads.

The ball head lock is durable and holds my Canon 6D in place. I use this on my slider.

I bought this Oben ball head as a replacement to the one that came with a kit I bought back in 2013 which came with Oben's entry level ball head that supported 11lbs. With my D810 and a 28-300 lens attached, and most of the time a flash too, I never had a problem with that capacity, but opted to go with their sturdier/est one in case I attach something that would require more strength. The only reason I was replacing that ball head (and I could have just bought a replacement part maybe) is I was releasing the backing plate from the ball head itself and a spring popped out and I couldn't get it back in. I used it as an excuse to get something stronger.. Happy with their products overall and I can't complain. I blame myself for that spring popping out of the other one.
