Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this support a Canon 1DX?

A: Unfortunately the Redrock Micro ultraCage Scout HX only supports cameras up to 125mm in height. Canon's EOS-1D X is measured at 164mm tall. The EOS-1D X Mark II and Mark III are measured at 166mm.

Q: 2. what size allen wrench is needed to mount the picatinny light mount?

A: According to the user manual for the SureFire Dual Fuel Turbo Scout Light Pro Weaponlight, they suggest using a flathead screw driver to tighten the screw and not an allen wrench.

Q: 3. Does this work for the PT2C as well?

A: Yes, the Aputure 45° Grid for amaran T2C LED Tube Light fits the amaran PT2c RGB LED Pixel Tube Light.

Q: 4. is the titan-b waterproof?

A: Yes, I have had mine in water without issue. I do not know the specific specs but on page 11 of the 2015 SureFire catalog the information notes f course building rugged, virtually indestructible bodies is about keeping out the elements, so we seal out water and dust with O-ring and gasket seals. In the unlikely event that moisture gets past these defenses, we minimize potential harm with waterproof coatings on our electronics and by using gold and other premium non-corroding metals for electrical contacts and interfaces.

Q: 5. How reliable is this? And can we map the focus throw to whatever degrees we want? i.e. a lens with a 240 degree throw we can map it to 90 degrees on the thumbwheel?

A: Very! And by that I am assuming you mean repeatable. It's also extremely solidly built, so it won't just break down into bits while you use it. Mine had a bit of motor jitter, which annoyed me. But Redrock support was extremely helpful and pointed out to me that you can in fact control the amount of torque on the motor so I managed to dial it down to a point where I am now extremely happy with the responsiveness.Regarding remapping the throw of your lens, it actually works the other way. No matter what the throw of your lens, the Scout will remap it to 270 degrees. It would have been cool if they allowed us some control on the remapped angle, but in practice I have seen it doesn't really matter, because most of the time you don't really rack focus from infinity to the minimum distance your lens supports. You only need half that ability in most cases, and even less if you are following some form of action, like a dance or a group of actors etc.

Q: 6. So this version doesn’t come with the flight case, right?

Q: 7. Can Surefire tape switch be used with this light without an adapter??

A: The SureFire Dual Fuel Scout Light Pro Weapon Light (Black) will need this SureFire DS00 Waterproof Switch Assembly for Scout Light Weapon Lights (Tan) in order to be used with the tape switch: https://bhpho.to/2F1Qw4m

Q: 8. Will this fit a Quasar Science Crossfade 4' tube?

A: Yes, will accommodate most tube lights on the market.

Q: 9. The design by the photograph seems as if I would not be able to use the electronic viewfinder in conjunction with this cage. It seems to me that either the screw on top of the hot shoe or the rod holding the motor will poke you in the forehead if you try to put your eye to the electronic viewfinder. Is that true? Or am I just imagining it?

A: This will vary depending on the camera you use. However this product was designed with using the LCD Screen on a camera in mind more so than the viewfinder. It may not be as easy to get your eye up to the viewfinder as it normally would be with this cage.

Q: 10. What is the beam radius at different distance’s?

A: The manufacture does not give a beam angle spec.
