Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can it fit an iPad Pro 10.5 with smart keypad cover?

A: The specifications state that it can take a 9.7 tablet. Therefore we will take them at their word and say that anything larger will not fit.

Q: 2. Will a Fujifilm xt-2 with vertical grip and 18-135mm lens fit in this? I'm ok if it has to stretch to do so.

A: I don't think this bag is big enough for that combo. I have an x-t20 with a 16-50mm lens and it was too small. I returned the bag. Instead I found the Domke F-6 a much better fit. I am able to put the camera with lens plus an extra Samyang 12mm w/a lens and still have extra room for flash etc. The Domke F-8 bag would be good for a point & shoot outfit or a small camera with a flat lens.

Q: 3. is this bag has the same hard bottom as in Domke F-5XB?I suppose there is integrated plate.

A: Yes, there is a padded integrated bottom plate.

Q: 4. Would this hold a Nikon D850 with a a 35mm 1.8 and a 50mm 1.8, preferably with one lens attached, and one in the bag?

A: The Domke F-8 Small Canvas Shoulder Bag (Sand) could carry the Nikon D850 DSLR Camera with either the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens or the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ED Lens attached. There is not enough room for both lenses.

Q: 5. Will the back pocket fit an iPad Air?

A: No

Q: 6. I have a Canon 60D with a Sigma 18-250 lens, I carry a couple of backup batteries and charger, a couple of filters and the camera instruction manual; will it all fit, or should I go one size larger?Larry

A: This camera bag would easily hold all of your gear and still have some room left over for other items you may still need to stow.

Q: 7. The description for the F-8 says that a hand strap carrying handle is included. But in one of the reviews the reviewer said he bought an accessory hand strap, implying that it is not included with the bag. Is the hand strap carrying handle included?

A: Yes. The hand strap is made of substantial webbing material, and it has two steel snap hooks at the ends which attach to the same D rings that the shoulder strap attaches to. It stays out of the way when not needed, but comes easily to hand when it is. I don'the use mine so much as a carry strap, but as a grab strap.

Q: 8. This is a two part question. 1.) Are the inside dimensions given in the specs sections of this site accurate? 2.) Does the RuggedWear version ship with two dividers like the pictures show?

A: Interior dimensions for the F-8 Small Shoulder Bag RuggedWear are as follows -6.5 x 3.5 x 6.5 The F-8 Small Shoulder Bag includes two adjustable/removable interior dividers.

Q: 9. Will this be able to fit a Fuji xt10 and kit lens 18-55mm?

A: Yes, I tried it with my X-T10 and the 18-55, it fits just fine with a bit of extra space.

Q: 10. Is the waxed canvas sticky, oily or annoying to touch?

A: The feel of the Domke F-8 Small Shoulder Bag - RuggedWear is very subjective. It is, Canvas Coated with Wax and Oil. It is not sticky. And most find it fine and not annoying.

The DOMKE Next Generation Herald Camera Bag (Black Cordura) is very good. It conveniently holds a camera with a 100-400, or 70-200 zoom lens. The leather handle is a nice feature. The black cordura fabric is perfect; it has enough firmness to it so the bag is not flimsy in any way. DOMKE makes high quality camera bags that are well designed. I own only DOMKE bags that I use for outdoor photography. They have worked very well for me. You will be happy with the performance of this camera bag.

I've been a photographer for 30 years . Always using Domke. Lately for the nature of my project I needed a camera bag capable of carrying one camera with its lens on. I couldn't find it anywhere. I tried different brands. Nothing work, until Domke came out with this wonderful bag. Expensive but, for me it's totally worth it.

I purchased this bag to hold my Nikon D750 with a 28-300 Nikkor zoom attached (with its lenshade attached) plus room for a second lens in the main cavity. That way, all I have to do when a shot presents itself is grab the camera out of the bag, hit the on button, focus & shoot. I hate using bags where I have to "assemble the gear" before I can start shooting. But, this one gets you to the shooting stage extremely quickly.

The bag still has room in the front and end pouches for an external light meter, an external flash, the battery charger and an extra battery.

The bag is extremely well made; is compact; and will be my go-to bag for lugging my gear with me where ever I go. I love it. Thanks, Domke and B&H!!

--Long time Domke user, currently with only 5 Domke bags. (Sold 4 others I wasn't using last year.) B&H put the Herald on sale--and I jumped because of the deal, but I didn't expect the bag to be as good as it is. I have a tan 802 bag with a non-Domke insert that I love and occasionally add F-901 pouches to the ends, but I wanted a black bag, too. This is actually a somewhat improved design, a bit smaller than the 802, and it's a little "dressier" if you need it for business. It's a complement to the 802. Thanks B&H! Recommended.

It is exactly what I wanted and expected. I can now carry my 35mm camera body with it's large attached zoom lens, my big 100 - 400mm lens w/ extender, my small fish eye lens and all my other stuff in one great looking bag. I do a lot of travel photography and this solves all my problems.

I have been using Domke bags for over 35 years. I was looking for a smaller bag that I could put a mirrorless camera in and use for traveling. This bag works great! I just need to get it softened up a little like all my other Domke bags. I do agree with others though I don't know why such a well made bag uses plastic shoulder strap hooks.

It's tight but it fits a Nikon F6 with 28-300 or 28-85 zoom lens. It's just what I needed. One camera, one zoom lens, one flash, and several rolls of film. This is for a serious film photographer who gets out on the street or anywhere. Film is better than digital.
