The CATV Channelized Audio/Video Modulator, Channel 19, from Blonder Tongue is an all-solid-state audio/video modulator that provides a modulated visual and aural RF carrier output on one specific CATV channel. The unit modulates the audio and video inputs and provides the requested RF CATV channel output for use in a CATV, MATV or SMATV system. The modulator accepts standard (sync negative) polarity video at a 0.7-2.5V peak to peak level from sources such as a TV camera, video tape recorder, TV demodulator or satellite receiver.

The modulator features a +55dBmV RF output level, and an IF SAW filtering for adjacent channel operation. All aeronautical channels are offset positive with a tolerance of ±5kHz as required by FCC 21006. All level controls are located on the front panel. The RF level control provides up to +55dBmV output. The video modulator control sets the depth of modulation for 87.5% over an input video level range from 0.7VP/p to 2.5VP/p. An audio modulation control permits adjustment for ±25kHz peak deviation of the aural carrier.

Q: 1. Just ordered one. It's not working on my condenser mic. When plugged in the low frequency hum is eliminated but a high frequency hum is created and the mic signal is gone. Is thing defective?

A: Hi George. The IL-19 is transformer-based and inherently blocks phantom power, so assuming your condenser mic requires phantom power, the IL-19 will not work as it is blocking the power the mic needs.

Q: 2. Can the inputs scale down 4k video input to 1080p? the intended camera for use is the BHG1 which outputs only 4k over HDMI?

A: No it can not. You will need to send a 1080p or lower signal for the switcher to process the video. Keep in mind that on cameras like the BGH1 your recording resolution and output resolution do not need to be the same. Therefore it is possible to record in 4K while outputting a 1080p video signal if necessary.

Q: 3. How is this "AVMATRIX Shark H4 Video Switcher" compare to the "Elvid VSW-4H-USB Video Switcher"? The same?? Thanks!

A: We have not done a comparison of the AVMATRIX Shark H4 4-Channel HDMI Video Switcher and the Elvid VSW-4H-USB 4-Input HDMI Broadcast Video Switcher. From comparing specs, the two switchers appear to be close to identical with potential software/support differences from each of the companies.

Q: 4. I just ordered this and it is not working. Trying to eliminate a hum on blue bottle condenser mic. When plugged in I get another frequency hum and no mic signal. Am I doing something wrong or is this thing defective?

A: Being transformer-based, the Sescom IL-19 In-Line Audio Hum Eliminator inherently blocks the 48V phantom power that your condenser mic requires.

Q: 5. Can this unit be controlled via an ipad?

A: We're afraid not. There is both Windows and Mac software to control this product. However Roland does not have an App that can be used with an iPad.

Q: 6. Does this device require power if used for POE cameras?

A: This will not transmit any POE. This is meant to convert a COAX signal and allow you to transmit the signal over Cat5.

Q: 7. Someone know how is this product wired ? Hot in pin 2 or 3 ?I work in Europe and I wonder if I can use this product without phase issue... Thanks !

A: This product maintains phase: pin 1:1, pin 2:2, and pin 3:3, coupled through a special high end audio transformer that is of a proprietary design and has excellent frequency response.

Q: 8. Can this switcher stream directly to the internet like the Blackmagic Mini?

A: The AVmatrix Micro 4-Channel HDMI & DP Video Switcher features an USB-C Out for Capture & Streaming, which could be used to directly connect it to a computer, for live streaming purposes over the internet.

Q: 9. Does this support encoding via USB-C for both Windows and Mac?

A: Yes, encoding via USB-C is supported for both Windows and Mac. https://www.avmatrix.net/download/

Q: 10. Is it work over Internet? Then Please send me how it pair with its encoder.

A: Yes, this decoder is Wi-Fi enabled and can be accessed via web browser or iVMS 4200 client software. Detailed instructions can be found in this doc on pgs 13-20: https://us.hikvision.com/sites/default/files/ud05526b_baseline_user_manual_of_ds-6900udi_series_decoder_v2.1.0_20170713_0.pdf
