The two elements of this thin Nikon polarizer are held together with a thin silver wire. I sent it back to Nikon and asked for a new replacement filter but Nikon declined and sent the polarizer back repaired. Fearing the same problem might reoccur, I replaced the Nikon Polarizer with a B&W 95 polarizer which seem much more substantial.
