The LCF-10P Plate Mount from Really Right Stuff is made to replace the original Nikon lens collar plate mount. Over a period of time and under normal use the original lens collar mounting plate can become misshapen. Under these conditions the lens foot may not stay secure on the lens mount. As a result, with the locking knob completely tightened on the foot, it could come off and cause damage to the lens.

The LCF-10P, CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum plate is 2.5-times thicker than the plate originally included on Nikon's 70-200 f/2.8 VR and VR II lenses. The plate has also been anodized with the type II black finish. Before replacing Nikon's lens collar plate mount, consider the MTX-Multi-Tool, because if the correct tool is not used it could easily strip the Nikon screw head.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you properly balance a Nikon 500mm PF attached to a RRS LCF-11 on a Wimberley WH-200 gimbal head?

A: Yes you can , they are ARCA compatible

Q: 2. Will this foot prevent accidental release?

A: Yes it will

Q: 3. On the RRS website, a reviewer claims that the silver knob to tighten the foot scratches the lens body. Has anybody else experienced this?

A: Really Right Stuff Foot for NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR-S Lens is desing to replace the Nikon NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S Lens foot. This product is aproximately 33mm away from the camera body if you are attaching a battery grip on the camera therefore it is imposible for the silver knob to touch the camera or the grip. Please review the images of this product in our website.

Q: 4. Will this work with a Nikkor 200-500mm VR ED lens and a Wimberley MH-100 Mono gimbal head?

A: This is not the correct foot for that lens. For that lens you need the Really Right Stuff Collar Foot Package for Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens linked here. https://bhpho.to/3uCRABA. This will work fine on the Wimberley.

Q: 5. Will this work on the 180-600 lens?

A: The Really Right Stuff Foot for NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S Lens is not compatible with the Nikon 180-600mm lens. Currently RRS does not list a replacement foot for that lens and we do not sell one from another brand yet. I am sure a replacement foot will be made for the lens eventually.

Q: 6. Will this fit the standard Nikon tripod foot?

A: Really Right Stuff LCF-10P Plate Mount for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 Lens will not fit the standard Nikon foot. It's specially made for the Nikon's 70-200 f/2.8 VR and VR II lenses.

Q: 7. The RRS LCF-11 seems way over priced. I can get the, Kirk LP-64 Replacement Lens Foot for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens for $80. Does anyone know if their is a just cause for a $40 difference?

A: I have both the RRS on my 500PF and the Kirk on my 70-200mm. Both are first rate. The RRS has the ability to use the Magpul QD strap which the Kirk does not. Is it worth the extra $40? It is to me.

Q: 8. will this work whith the new nikon z 400mm f4.5?

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff Foot for NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR-S Lens (MFR #LCF-21) is compatible with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S Lens.

Q: 9. Would this lens foot fit on the Nikon Z 70-200mm? I'm planning to switch my 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII lens to the Z 70-200mm for my Z7.

A: Unfortunately this foot is not compatible with the Z 70-200. We have this Kirk that is compatible with the Z 70-200. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1595112-REG/kirk_lp_70_replacement_foot_for_nikon.html

Q: 10. Does this item have a QD connector mounting point?

My original Nikon plate warped with use and the lens foot would wiggle when shooting panoramas. This one is about 2.5x thicker and incredibly solid.

My mistake, bought one, didnt need it,
Very easy to overlook, the only warning (in red), is in the instructions from RRS
Needs the same instructions (in red) here!
Kudos to B&H, the good guys at B&H offered to take the product back and credit my account and pick up the freight
Wasn't talking about a lot of cash here, my mistake, I will just pass it on to one of my friends
So, if you have the 2.8E, you dont need one, the plate on the 2.8E collar is perfect so RRS have not had the need to engineer one for the new product
