Canon's EOS C200 EF Cinema Camera features a built-in EVF, 4" LCD screen, top handle, Super35 CMOS sensor and Dual Pixel autofocus. The EF lens mount on the EOS C200 offers compatibility not only with Canon's existing broad range of DSLR lenses but also with their line of EF-mount CN-E cinema prime and zoom lenses. The Super35 sensor is paired with Canon's Dual DIGIC DV 6 image processor, allowing it to capture and record up to DCI 4K resolution.

The C200 can also record Canon's Cinema RAW Light internally via its single CFast card slot. The camera also incorporates two SD card slots for recording UHD 4K/HD MP4 video. A built-in EVF enables the camera to maintain a small footprint when you shoot. However, the included removable 4" LCD screen as well as the included top handle and camera grip make this camera versatile for larger shoots. You can output video via the camera's SDI output, and the built-in XLR connectors provide two channels of audio at line, mic, and mic+48V level. A built-in Ethernet connector provides input/output control.

Modeled on the Super35 motion picture film standard, the Canon CMOS sensor has an active image size of 24.4 x 13.5mm. It features 4096 x 2160 resolution to deliver Cine 4K images, as well as supporting Ultra HD (3840 x 2160), and Full HD (1920 x 1080).

Provides continuous AF function for all autofocus lenses, using Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology. A new AF Lock setting also lets you change the image framing while holding the desired focus. This feature is ideal for users who regularly shoot with smaller crews, who shoot moving subjects, or who want smoother, more natural-looking autofocus.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology features a CMOS sensor that consists of an array of pixels that each feature two separate photodiodes. By continuously comparing their outputs during AF mode, phase-difference autofocus helps ensure non-blurred images and smooth focus transitions even when the talent and/or camera are moving. The new feature places a high priority on maintaining sharp focus while providing a natural, smooth autofocus movement with select Canon EF lenses - including newer-generation STM lenses - which offer even smoother and quieter operation.

The C200 features a dynamic range of approximately 13 stops, and an ISO range of 160 to 25,600. You can also select an expanded ISO range of 100 to 102,400. It supports Wide DR Gamma, Canon Log, and Canon Log 3.

The camera features Dual DIGIC DV 6 processors to handle the internal data processing.

The EOS C200 features a built-in 0.46", 1.23MP color EVF and 100% field of view coverage for comfortable viewing and accurate judgment of composition, focus, and color. The angle of the viewfinder is adjustable for additional user comfort.

Included with the C200 is a removable 4" Touchscreen LCD viewfinder. Also included with the C200 is a camera control handgrip as well as a removable top handle.

Built directly into the C200 are two XLR audio inputs with +48V phantom power, and a 3.5mm microphone terminal is also built into the camera. Audio is recorded uncompressed in 16-bit PCM format at 48 kHz for high-fidelity sound. Both XLR inputs as well as the mic terminal have the option for automatic as well as manual gain control.

This codec allows you to record raw data internally to a CFast 2.0 card via the camera's single CFast card slot. The CFast card slot enables capturing DCI 4K in Canon's Cinema RAW Light format.

  • UHD 4K and Full HD recording onto SD cards is available via the two SD card slots.

You can choose to record at 120/100p when recording in Full HD.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. When are the pre-ordered cameras scheduled to arrive?

A: Sorry, but we do not have a definite date of availability for this product. Hopefully it will be soon. If you have a Pre-Order, please contact B&H Customer Service for further information.

Q: 2. Is there a longer cable that could be purchased to go from body to monitor?

A: Because the cable is very complex due to the C200 monitor being touch screen, the only cable Canon offers is very expensive. If you need an off camera monitor, we suggest getting a conventional monitor and using an HDMI or SDI cable.

Q: 3. Will you be able to sync timecode through the sdi on the back with other cameras?

A: Sorry the C200 while it has timecode you can set manually, it does not have a Genlock.

Q: 4. What SD cards supports mp4/4K@150mbps/60fps?

A: You can use SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO UHS-I SDXC Memory Card (V30) B&H # SAEPSD128GV3 SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card B&H # SAEPSD64GV3G or Angelbird 64GB AV Pro UHS-II SDXC Memory Card B&H # ANAVP064SD. Basically any U Class 3 will do.

Q: 5. Will the c200 fit a Movi M5? It seems like with the viewfinder off it will work even better than the c100 mkII (it also appears to be shorter)

A: It is important to recognize that there are two separate models here: The C200 and the C200B. The C200B is to be thought of as a second or B camera. As such, it does not come with a top handle, an on-board monitor, or even an EVF. It has been made this way specifically for a gimbal, a drone or a Steadicam where an EVF is superfluous. So yes the C200B is perfect for a gimbal like the Movi M5.

Q: 6. Will Canon be adding digital image stabilization as a firmware upgrade so that we can use faster lenses than their IS lenses?

A: Internal IS would require a mechanically driven sensor. No firmware would be able to do that. Canon has not announced any IS for this camera.

Q: 7. What is the rocord time without splitting files. It seems canon likes to cut this off at 29 minutes?

A: The C200B will record for as long as the memory card allows. Splitting clips is a function of the recording system and the format of the memory card, which is usually either Fat32 or exFat. Both have file size limits. The key is importing your footage with Proper File Structure. If you copy and paste the entire contents of your memory card to a hard drive and then follow the proper procedures to import the footage in to an editing program, all the files should be joined together just as they were filmed.

Q: 8. Can you record 4k 60p 4:2:2 10 bit to an external recorder like the atoms ninja inferno? If so, can you use C-log as well?

A: With the C200 you can output via the HDMI 3840 x 2160 QHD 4K at 59.94p 4:2:2 8-bit. Sorry, no 10-bit.

Q: 9. Note a little magenta in some videos I saw, you know if it is possible that canon fix this with an update?

A: Color cast can come from many places. I would regard any video less than corporate on the internet as having possible artifacts. If you were to get a C200 whose color cannot be adjusted to your liking, it is likely a service issue and would need adjustment by a Canon service center.

Q: 10. Hello B&H! Cant the C200 be powered directly by the Movi Pro and if so what cords do we need? As always thanks for the help!

A: That should be possible. Movcam offers a D-Tap to C300 MKII Power Cable and the C300 Mark II and C200 use the same power connection. You should be able to power the C200 directly from the Movi Pro with this cable.https://bhpho.to/2CfvARm
