I have been a happy user of the Kensington trackballs for over 30 years. Happy, EXCEPT for the fact that the roller bearings eventually reach the point where cleaning them does NOT last very long or always fix tracking issues. Spoke with their Customer Service and they had no suggestions to rectify. So I went with the X-keys product and, so far I am very happy with the touch and performance. Only time will tell if long term performance degrades, but I am hopeful.

Finally got one after thinking about it for years. I got it around Christmas and its early January. No need to clean so far. The ball is nice and large, and still smooth. The scroll wheel feels good and appropriate. It took some adjusting to get used to, and now its a relief to be using this device. For me its mostly a fun novelty, but very comfortable to use at that. I like how you can replace the ball it comes with, with a pool ball, since its the same size. Overall an uncomplicated but premium input tool. Cool, fun and interesting product as alternative pointing device!

This is my first trackball and a lot of research went into choosing this one. I wanted a high quality device and to be able to do general pointing tasks for work as well as gaming.

I looked at all the usual peripheral makers and was pretty unimpressed with the options with regard to quality, durability, serviceability, ergonomics, etc. I visited various forums to see what trackballs folks were using, how, and what the experience was for gaming.

I happened upon one random comment from 11 years ago, I rock a CST myself. I'd not seen CST mentioned elsewhere...turns out it's the predecessor to the L-Trac. I found my way to X-keys and looked over the specs and it met all my requirements.

The L-Trac ball is enormous and I love that about it. It feels sturdy and it is. The enclosure, rollers, ball, and cable are all very well made.

While ergonomics are very individual, for me this device has been comfortable to use and I became proficient with it very quickly. Check the more in-depth reviews and videos out there to get a sense of whether it'll work for you.

It's not easy to get a hold of one of these in Europe at the moment. I bought one from B&H and waited in anticipation. I was not disappointed. The plastics feel sturdy, the buttons clicky and satisfying. The trackball itself is massive and huge, which makes cursor motions effortless and very smooth. While I love the scroll wheel haptics, I am not convinced of its positioning. It takes a bit of getting used to, but that is ok considering the ergonomic advantage the trackball offers overall. I am a webdeveloper and mostly work on code, so I can switch between my keyboard and pointing device depending on if I am debugging in the browser or writing code. I used to get terrible pain in my shoulder and arm after long hours of work and switching to a trackball and split ergo keyboard has all but eliminated that. If you deal with similar problems, invest the money. It is absolutely worth it and you can easily extend the functionality of the l-trac with diy buttons as it has two input jacks on the back that allow for the attachment of custom buttons. You could use a foot pedal for example to replace the functionality of the mousebuttons easily, to name only one application of the top of my head, which I imagine could be great for disabled people. I might have to acquire a second one so I don't have to carry this one around from homeoffice to my workplace.
