  • Complies with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3x, 802.3af, and 802.3at standards
  • Automatically detects power devices (PD) and power consumption levels
  • Supports auto fault detection (over/under current and voltage)
  • Supports IEEE 802.3az energy efficient Ethernet

The GS-1008PH features 4 IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports, which supply up to 30 watts of power per port. It can convert standard 100-240 V AC power into low-voltage DC, which runs over existing LAN cables to supply power to IEEE 802.3at compliant network accessories. The GS-1008PH also features PoE detection, to verify whether the connected device is IEEE 802.3at compliant; if it is not a PoE device, only data will be sent through the LAN cable.

The standard Cat-5 Ethernet cable is used to link the GS-1008PH and the powered devices. This Ethernet cable can transmit both data and power. No separate power cable is needed for the powered devices, thus reducing installation time and costs.

Since the fan-less design ensures quiet operation in small office spaces, the GS-1008PH is an ideal solution for SOHO environments.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I need a poe switch to transmit my nvr video feed to several locations. does this switch support hdmi over ethernet?

A: Yes, this Netgear GS308EP 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Unmanaged Switch will support the HDMI. The setup usually is that the cameras will connect to the switch, the switch to the NVR, the NVR to HDMI splitter (per monitor), to HDMI over Ethernet extender, to each monitor.

Q: 2. I current own this switch but need a switch with more ports (I need 12 ports). Which model should I upgrade to?

A: You could simply add the same model to the current switch and network and double your ports. This is an example of a higher level switch with more ports: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1273932-REG/ubiquiti_networks_us_16_150w_us_unifi_switch_16port.html

Q: 3. Can an individual POE port on this switch be scheduled to turn on and/or off automatically (based on a schedule that you setup)?

A: Unless scheduling has been added as a feature in the Unifi Controller, PoE status can not be scheduled. It is either on or off, with additional features such as indicating whether passive or active PoE and such.

Q: 4. Does this switch additional power supply if already connected by PoE input?

A: No, if you connect this switch with POE, you do not need to use the additional power supply.

Q: 5. what software do i use to manage this switch.? can it be managed via web browser with an IP address?

A: As others have already said, you would need the UniFi controller.

Q: 6. Is it L2/L3 switch or just L2?

A: Yes, this Netgear GS308EP 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed Switch is possible to work as L3. https://bit.ly/4aVmhYv

Q: 7. Can it deliver power to the UAP-AC-LITE UniFi Access Point?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX can power a single UAP-AC-LITE.

Q: 8. What power adapter can I use with the USW-Flex Switch? I think the PoE-50-60W. Yes?

A: Yes, that is correct.

Q: 9. Can it be powered from the second port of UAP-AC-PRO?

A: No, the second port on the UAP-AC-PRO would not pass the power through to the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX.

Q: 10. Which hardware version is this? v1 or v2?

A: As of 1/29/21 stock, we have V1.

This switch was a perfect match for my requirements, where I needed some managed POE switches that could fit into small cabinets. The application is for security video, so the network equipment is in locking enclosures with limited space. They are also fanless, which is a bonus because it’s a quiet environment.
The construction and packaging are high quality, and setup is easy using a UniFi network controller.

As somebody with a small home setup, I chose this switch over the Switch Ultra due to the lower overall cost (I would have needed a power adapter with the Switch Ultra) and the fact that I only need 4 PoE, not 8. So far this switch has been rock solid.

This unit is a nice size for a desktop deployment that needs quite a few ports.

What I like:

* Power supply built in so no wall wart needed, just a standard EIA cord.
* Half the ports are PoE with enough power for some phones, etc.
* Works seamlessly with the UniFi network management tools. Easy to adopt and configure.

I replaced a smaller PoE switch to get some additional ports for my lab. Now I have extra ports to spare.

We use these smaller Ubiquiti switches in smaller locations where rack mount units aren't possible. To split out connections to point-of-sale devices, IP phones and security cameras. The included wall mounting hardware can be a little difficult to work with and isn't the sturdiest but otherwise is a great device itself. No complaints.

Excellent little switch with POE for cameras or AP’s. Only four ports support POE but not a big deal for how I use it.
