Q: 1. I have a DSLR camera. What other accessories would I need to buy to connect the lights in a studio lighting kit to my camera (to bridge the gap between camera and lighting equipment)?

A: Being that these are continuous lights (as opposed to a strobe/flash) there is no direct connection or cables needed to connect them to the camera. It would be the same concept as shooting indoors under whatever available lights you have or outdoors under the sun.

Q: 2. Do the fluorescent bulbs that come with this set have a color cast?

A: They give off a color temp of about 5000k. It looks pretty natural on camera. Personally in post I may warm up skin tones a touch if its my only source of light, otherwise I do not worry about it in video too much.

Q: 3. If you decide to switch to using LED bulbs will it be possible to use them in this kit?

A: Both the the Impact 4 Socket Fluorescent Fixture, B&H # IMFFS4, and the Impact FF-OF4 Octa 4-Socket Fluorescent Fixture, B&H # IMFFOF4, in the Impact Soft n' Natural Kit #3 listed above will accept Edison-base LED bulbs as long as the ballast on the base of the bulb has enough clearance for the bulbs to fully screw into the light socket. Fluorescent and LED lamps may be used in these fixtures, but tungsten/incandescent lamps CANNOT be used in these light fixtures.

Q: 4. I am looking for lights to travel with. Do these lights work in both Europe and the US?

Q: 5. I received this kit today in Australia. When I switch on the light, it was short-circuit. As I know, the voltage in Australia is 240V which is match with the voltage of this light. Can you tell me why this happened? How can I fix this problem?

A: While the Impact Soft n' Natural Kit #4 is compatible for use with 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, as we are located in the United States, the 12 x Eiko - SP27/50K Spiral Fluorescent Lamp (26W/120V) listed as included under the In The Box tab on our website are designed for use on 120V circuitry. When purchasing lighting equipment for use internationally, you have to ensure that both the fixture and the bulbs are compatible for use on the voltage used in your country. While we do not have a specific Impact Soft n' Natural Kit #4 that includes 220-240V bulbs, you may either purchase the Lowel 25 Watt Ego Fluorescent Bulb (220-240V AC), B&H # LOLE127E (which are the only 220-240V spiral fluorescent bulbs of this wattage which we carry), or you may look for similar options locally in your country.

A: Sort of 2 switches on the head allow you to have 2 or 4 bulbs on at a time. Other than that, you can just control the light by placement or different modifiers.

Q: 8. What is the shipping size and weight of this kit?

A: The kit is approximately 14 lbs total. The size of the actually shipping box varies according to what the warehouse has at the time and what they feel is best to protect the items.The light stands are the longest part of the kit and the stands when closed are about 27 inches long. So the box will be at least that long.

Q: 9. Can the 4-socket rectangular softbox fixture take 47w bulbs?

A: The manual states: ...uses Edison-base compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) up to 105W per socket. I have yet to try this much wattage draw, but it certainly states that your desire to use 47W bulbs should be within specs. Lynn Brown

Q: 10. Do the boxes in this kit have a 2nd internal diffusers/baffles?

A: No. While the Impact 50 x 70 cm Softbox for Fluorescent Fixtures, B&H # IMFFSB70, and the Impact FF-OSB60 Octa Softbox (24 ), B&H # IMFFOSB60, included in the Impact Soft n' Natural Kit #3 both have a removable front diffuser, neither softbox has an internal diffuser due to the design of the softbox and light fixture (due to the size/length of the bulbs, the shallow depth of the softbox, and the fact the bulbs are inside the softbox, an internal baffle would be pressed directly against the bulbs and would be inefficient for usage).
