Tele Vue Nagler Planetary 3-6mm Zoom Eyepiece (1.25")
- Product Code: ga7200
-
Designed specifically for planetary viewing, and to enable the user to easily find the highest possible useful magnification on a given night with constantly changing atmospheric conditions, the Tele Vue Nagler Planetary 3-6mm Zoom Eyepiece is built with a 5-element/3-group lens configuration. This allows it to maintain a relatively long 10mm eye relief despite the short focal lengths, while being parfocal, through the entire zoom range. Maintaining parfocality allows the user to run through the focal length range without the need to refocus after each new magnification is set.
Built to Tele Vue's exacting standards, the eyepiece features anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics to improve brightness, color rendition, and contrast. Click-stop positions at every millimeter through the focal length range allow users to track settings and calculate magnification without having to take their eye away from the eyecup. A fold-down rubber eyecup allows for easy use with or without eyewear, and a textured collar allows for sure handling in the cold or while wearing gloves.
The Planetary Zoom has a barrel diameter of 1.25" to fit into the most common sized focusers and accessories, and is also parfocal with all Tele Vue group 'B' eyepieces, allowing you to change eyepieces within the group without having to refocus every time - saving time and limiting vibrations.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. how do you know what type of eye piece works best with your telescope? Is there a rule or formula to calculate it, if you work with refractor/reflector, and if you add a barlow lens?
A: For example, to calculate maximum power of a telescope, a 90mm diameter scope will have a 180 maximum power. Please call in for further info .
Q: 2. Is this a good eyepiece and is it compatible with the Celestron Nexstar 105 GT telescope?
A: Televue Panoptics are excellent eyepieces. Very sharp, clear images. To determine if an eyepiece is compatible with your telescope you first need to calculate your telescope's Maximum True Field of View, then calculate the eyepiece's True field of View. Eyepieces that have a True Field of View greater than your telescope's Maximum True Field of View will cutoff the image and have chromatic aberrations around the edges. Generally speaking, it does not hurt to go a little over tFOV with quality eyepieces, but the more the eyepiece's tFOV is over the telescopes's max tFOV more of the image is cutoff and the worse the chromatic aberrations get around the edges. There are several very good free eyepiece calculators available on the web to calculate Max tFOV, and help determine eyepiece compatibility.
Q: 3. What I feel that needs to be better explained about eyepieces and focal lengths as in 6mm or 25mm is that the opening is tiny for 6 mm as compared with 25mm that is wider . The lower the focal length the difficult it gets to train your eye throughthe opening due to its tiny opening. My child experience with my first kid telescope that came with 6mm and 25mm eyepieces told me that 25mm is more enjoyable to use despite lower magnification than the higher magnifying 6mm which is so restrictive in the opening for my eye to keep peeking through as steadiily as I can. I think that a minimum of 10mm is acceptable to me or maybe 12mm. . Am I correct?
A: Yes that is correct. 10 or 12mm will be okay. It also depends on how large of an aperture your scope has. The bigger front opening of the scope the brighter the image.
Q: 4. Good day,I got a Celestron NexStar Evolution 9.25 last week and from the reading it seems that it would benefit greatly from better eyepieces than the supplied stock ones. The telescope has Focal Length 2350 mm and Focal Ratio 10.I'm reading good things about the TeleVue Ethos.I was thinking about getting the Ethos 21mm. Would that be a good choice for my telescope? Also the Ethos SX 4.7mm, but maybe it would be too much power for my telescope? The supplied stock 13mm seems quite shaky as it is, using it from my apartment balcony. For the Ethos 21mm I would need 2 diagonal. Would TeleVue 2 Everbrite Diagonal - Satin be a good choice? Would it fit my telescope?Or maybe the Meade Series 5000 Dielectric Diagonal (2 ) as it seems to be supplied with Schmidt-Cassegrain to 2 adapter?Would there be a big difference between these two diagonals in the picture quality or not really on my telescope? What is the advantage of getting Ethos 21mm and Ethos 10mm versus Ethos 21mm and a 2x Barlow?Any advise/recommendations would be appreciated.Thanks.Regards,Andrej
A: I would personally go with the 21mm Ethos model. The 4.7mm will be overkill I think. You could still use it, but you would notice some shake for sure. I would go with the Meade 5000 Series for the Diagonal that would be a better choice. Q: 5. what is the percentage of distortion.....?
A: It would really all depend on the Telescope you have. Unfortunately I do not have that type of information, my apologies.
Q: 6. Hi.. Hello,How can I use this eyepiece with Canon Kiss-X2?
A: It should work if you have the correct Canon T-Thread adapter for your Kiss-X2
Q: 7. Are Televue Ethos eyepieces made in USA? Ie are they NAFTA qualified?
A: The Tele Vue Ethos-SX 3.7mm Ultra Wide-Angle Eyepieces, are made in Taiwan, and are not NAFTA qualified.
Q: 8. How will this TV 32 mm plossl work in a Celestron C5 spotting scope?
A: The Celestron C5 127mm f/10 50x Spotting Scope (OTA Only) BH #CEC5SB • MFR #52291 came with a 25mm eyepiece The Tele Vue Plossl 32mm Eyepiece (1.25") BH #TEEPL32P • MFR #EPL-32.0 is a upgrade eyepiece becaus og better glass and coatings on the elements
Q: 9. Hello,Is this lens compatible with the Celestron 6SE telescope?Many thanks
A: I bought the lens about a month but have no chance to view through it yet. However I did try fitting it to my Celestron 8SE telescope which has a 1.25 diagonal and I did not have any problem.
Q: 10. Are the Delos eyepieces par-focal?
A: Yes they are par focal with many other Televue eyepieces. Go to the televue site and look at the chart of eyepiece specifications. Scan the column 4G . Eyepieces with the same letter in that column are parfocal. So most of the Delos ep's have the letter B . You will see that some other types of TV eyepieces also have the letter B . All those are par focal.
